Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site role for a Sales Manager with optics experience, located in Jahra. The Sales Manager will oversee daily sales activities, manage a sales team, develop and execute sales strategies, analyze sales data, and drive customer engagement. The role includes building and maintaining customer relationships, ensuring sales targets are met, and collaborating with the marketing team to optimize strategies.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced sales engineering professional who provides technical advice to customers and helps to develop proposals based on customer requirements. We are hiring a Partner Sales Director to work closely with Canonical GSI partners throughout their sales cycles and across their sales organizations to facilitate ubuntu based solutions and opportunities, as well as help GSI build long term digital transformation platforms with ubuntu stacks and services.

Reporting to the VP Global Alliances and Channels, the Partner Sales Director will be responsible for building trusted relationships with partners, increasing Canonical market share and attach rate, evangelizing about the partnership and leading all business interactions from engineers to CxO level. They will own the strategy, the sell-to, sell-through and sell-with motions with the GSI and will animate many customer workshops, sales events, public presentations and executive engagements.

The role entails

  • Build strategic relationships with partners at levels, and stickiness with Ubuntu technology
  • Deep understanding of Linux and cloud software ecosystem, and open source selling models
  • Negotiate contracts and commercial business terms
  • Deep understanding of partner organizations and sales models, in particular with Global System Integrators
  • Work closely with marketing, sales engineering and product management to deliver on targets, objectives and provide a voice of the partner
  • Lead executive interlocks between partners and Canonical leadership team
  • Ability to travel - sometimes internationally - up to 40% of the time

  • Extensive experience with OpenStack, virtualization, containers and other Cloud technologies.

This role is responsible for developing a personal Book of Business (BOB) within the Branch’s Geographical reach by implementing company commercial strategies and products with the aim of accelerating growth.

He/She will ensure delivery of significant P&L contributions within the Branch by controlling margins within its own BOB.

This position requires strong communication skills and Freight Forwarding operational experience in a fast paced, dynamic Freight-Forwarding Field Sales environment.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage Book of Business (BOB) ensuring constant growth in Volume, Revenue and Margin
  • Grant constant growth of the BCO composition of the above: Hunting as % of Farming
  • Undertake market analysis and competitive research in the local market.
  • Liaise with Branch Operations in order to ensure proper SOPs are customized around client needs.
  • Assist BOB clients in their day-by-day requests related to export/import quotations/negotiations in order to ensure proper opportunity closing.
  • Liaise with internal Network and external Partner Agents in order to guarantee the best possible service assistance to working opportunities.
  • Work with the CRM system in order to properly manage personal pipeline and record activity that will be base for Field Sales Incentive Scheme.
  • Stay updated about local regulations, industry, new practices and any enhancements.

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven track record in sales field, with at least 3 years of recent and relevant sales experience in Freight Forwarding
  • Freight Forwarding experience is mandatory.

SKILLS

  • Freight Forwarding – Solid and demonstrated working knowledge of the Freight Forwarding Industry.
  • Execution Sales Skills – Ability to research, identify, tackle, grow and close business opportunities ensuring the needed support from product and operations.
  • Agile Skills - Ability to prioritize multiple tasks to meet various deadlines
  • Computer Skills - Intermediate computer skills with a proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel & PowerPoint
  • Communication – Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with clients, carriers, other forwarders, vendors
  • Languages - You speak and write fluent English – additional languages are a bonus, but not a must.

As part of their strategic expansion, they are seeking a highly experienced Sales Manager – Modern Trade to lead their key accounts and modern trade function in Kuwait. The role is crucial in driving growth, optimizing channel performance, and developing a high-performing sales team within the modern trade landscape.

The Role:

As the Sales Manager – Modern Trade, you will be responsible for leading and managing customer relationships, driving trade negotiations, and ensuring the highest standards of execution across key accounts. You will manage a team of Key Account Executives and will play a vital role in forecasting, team development, and improving customer service levels. Reporting to the Business Head, this role demands strong leadership, commercial acumen, and hands-on market engagement. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Lead and manage a team of Key Account Executives and Field Sales Managers to achieve business objectives.

• Drive trade negotiations and ensure implementation of trading agreements aligned with brand expectations.

• Monitor trade activations, distribution coverage, and service levels to maximize customer satisfaction.

• Develop and review monthly sales forecasts based on market activity and planned promotions.

• Prepare account-specific business development plans and manage trade investment budgets effectively.

• Identify opportunities to improve visibility through shelving, displays, and strategic placement.

• Implement sales fundamentals in line with brand strategies and market requirements.

• Conduct quarterly business reviews with key accounts and develop actionable business plans.

• Negotiate new product listings, pricing updates, promotional campaigns, and merchandising execution.

• Monitor competitor activity and execute tactical responses as needed.

• Coach and develop the sales team through field visits and feedback-driven development plans.

• Drive performance through monthly and quarterly incentives and recognition programs.

• Train the team in customer management, route planning, collections, and product knowledge.

• Conduct mid-year and annual appraisals, ensuring continuous team development.

• Evaluate journey plans and ensure effective customer coverage and route efficiency.

• Ensure achievement of volume and value targets across assigned modern trade channels.

• Manage collections from credit customers and review credit terms based on payment performance.

• Authorize orders, discounts, returns, and other sales-related approvals.

• Oversee team discipline, daily reporting, leave planning, and professional conduct.

• Collaborate cross-functionally with Finance, HR, Logistics, Trade Marketing, and Business Partners.

The Ideal Candidate:

• Postgraduate qualification in Sales, Marketing, Business Administration, or Commerce.

• Minimum 10 years of FMCG sales and distribution experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.

• Strong understanding of the FMCG landscape, key account management, trade terms, and market dynamics.

• Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing sales teams.

• Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

• Experience in coverage planning, route optimization, and trade investment management.

• Intermediate Excel skills and comfort working with large datasets.

• Age between 35–42 years.

• GCC experience highly preferred.
