In this appointment we are more focused on ability than experience; the position is open to applicants with a relevant degree, but does not have a requirement for extensive work experience. The successful candidate will work closely with our in-house legal team and colleagues worldwide.
Candidates must be able to demonstrate good commercial judgment as well as being organized, efficient, and capable to provide high quality legal and commercial advice. Location : This role is home based in Europe, the Middle East, Africa or the Americas, with the option of our London office.
The role entails
- Report to our global general counsel
- Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts with customers and vendors in many countries across the globe
- Provide legal support to various internal clients across the company, including Canonical's sales organization
- Interface with cross-functional teams to support company initiatives
- Utilize Canonical's contract management system to ensure accurate data is maintained for signed contracts

- A degree in law, JD or equivalent, and active license to practice law or current progress towards that

Job Description
We are seeking a talented and driven Legal Associate to join our Legal team in Kuwait. This role is pivotal in supporting our operations across Kuwait and affiliated entities throughout the GCC region.
Responsibilities:
- Draft, review, and manage a wide range of contracts, NDAs, MOUs, and commercial agreements (local and cross-border).
- Advise management on operational and strategic legal matters, primarily in Kuwait, with oversight support across other GCC jurisdictions.
- Conduct legal research and ensure compliance with commercial, civil, labor, and regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and communicate updates on laws and regulations issued by Kuwaiti authorities.
- Coordinate litigation efforts through external counsel and manage legal risks across the group.
- Support licensing, compliance, and supplier/client legal due diligence.
- Attend internal and external meetings to ensure legal interests are represented.
- Maintain thorough and traceable contract records and legal documentation.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); LLM is a plus.
- 4–6 years’ experience in a law firm or in-house legal team.
- Deep understanding of Kuwaiti commercial, civil, and labor laws.
- Exposure to GCC cross-border legal matters is highly desirable.
- Exceptional contract drafting and legal analysis skills.
- Fluent in Arabic and English – written and spoken.
- Strong communication, research, and multitasking capabilities.
