The governance programme involves working with the Government of Kuwait on improving governance systems including digital governance, policy and strategy support, anti-corruption, international cooperation and partnerships which feed into the implementation of the national development.
- The Governance Programme Intern works in close collaboration with the operations, programme and projects' staff in the CO and UNDP HQs as required.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**

Under the overall supervision and guidance of the Governance Programme Analyst, the intern will assist in the following duties and responsibilities:
**1- Assist in Programme Planning and Implementation**:
Support the development and implementation of program

- Contribute to the preparation of work plans, budgets, and progress reports.
- Provide administrative support for the assigned program portfolio, including supporting event organization, maintaining accurate portfolio documentation, and preparing required correspondence.
- Assist in collecting, analyzing, and presenting background information for the preparation of country office programme.
- Develop database of information.

**2- Research and Analysis**
- Assist in conducting research on relevant topics to support programme objectives.
- Analyze information on projects as needed.

**3- Monitoring and Evaluation**
- Assist in monitoring project progress and evaluating programme impacts.
- Contribute to collecting and analyzing data for reporting purposes.

**4- Stakeholder Engagement**:

- Liaise with programme partners, government counterparts, and other stakeholders as needed.
- Provide administrative support for the assigned program portfolio, including event organization, accurate portfolio documentation, and required correspondence.

**5 - Communications**:

- Prepare social media posts as necessary.
- Support the preparation of briefs and press statements as necessary.

Position Summary:

Responsible for the inspection, operation, maintenance and repair of water supply and wastewater collection systems and related components such as hot water heaters and plumbing fixtures in accordance with the performance work statement to support warm base operations and exercises. Must have at the time of offer and maintain a valid U.S. SECRET or Interim Secret Security Clearance.

LOCATION: Al Jabar Air Base Kuwait

Housing Note: Housing is off-base in a shared villa provided by Vectrus. (2 people per villa)

SALARY: $90k. There are other compensation items as well. Housing and food, 60hr work week, 30 days PTO, Tax Advantages.

Responsibilities:

  1. Operate and maintain critical components of the water distribution system including pumps, tanks, main distribution valves, water distribution lines, fire hydrants, filters, and disinfectant systems.
  2. Maintain chlorine levels between 0.5 and 2.0 parts per million (ppm).
  3. Maintain critical components of the sewage collection system including wet well grinders, lift stations, traps, sump pumps, and collection/holding tanks. Repair all components as required to keep the system operational.
  4. Pump water from manholes as necessary.
  5. Maintain and adhere to applicable technical orders and good commercial practices for all maintenance actions including requesting parts, receiving parts, installing, troubleshooting, testing, and repairing equipment.
  6. Provide written reports after the completion of all inspections, maintenance, repairs, tests, and certifications of each system or component.
  7. Follow a comprehensive quality and safety program in compliance with company, OSHA, and United States Air Force (USAF) requirements.
  8. Maintain a safe, clean, sanitary, healthy, presentable, professional atmosphere in all working facilities and areas.
  9. Utilize and safeguard all government and contractor provided property including facilities, equipment, and tools.
  10. Execute company time reporting procedures and accurately complete timesheets.

Desired Skills:

  1. Relevant overseas experience.
  2. Previous international experience and work experience on Air Force installations.
  3. Cross-cultural sensitivity with an international perspective.
  4. Knowledge of plumbing repairs, maintenance, and installation techniques.
  5. Knowledge of plumbing codes.
  6. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material.
  7. Ability to perform mathematical calculations.
  8. Ability to diagnose and resolve problems.
  9. Ability to use hand and power tools.
  10. Proficient with Microsoft programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  11. Able and willing to work periods of long hours to meet mission requirements.
  12. Military experience in a contingency environment and knowledge of government contracts preferred.

Qualifications & Needed Items:

  1. High School/GED.
  2. Associate degree or vocational training preferred.
  3. 3 years in one or more of the following areas:
    • Operations
    • Maintenance & Repair of plumbing systems
  4. Must possess a U.S. Government (USG) issued Secret security clearance or be able to obtain a favorable USG Secret clearance prior to being hired. Must maintain eligibility at the required clearance level for the duration of the task order.
  5. U.S. citizenship is required.
  6. Current U.S. Passport.
  7. Candidates must successfully complete both online and hands-on CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) defense training.
  8. Must be capable of obtaining an Air Force flight line access badge.
  9. Must pass employment and deployment qualification requirements including psychological, medical, dental, drug testing, background checks, etc.
  10. Must be able to communicate in English.
  11. Physical requirements include lifting up to 35 lbs, team lifting up to 50 lbs, climbing, extended sitting or standing, stooping, stretching, and bending.
  12. Materials used: lubricants, solvents, adhesives, copper tubing, wire, cable, accelerants, oxidizers, and abrasives.
  13. Equipment used: Hand tools, power tools, gauges, scales, torch, pumps, vacuum, ladder.
  14. May be exposed to potentially hazardous conditions that require wearing hard hats, gloves, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, safety glasses, and other personal protection equipment (PPE).
