Maintenance Technician - Utility is responsible for the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of utility systems, including ammonia Cooling Plant, HVAC, boilers, compressors, chillers, water treatment, and other essential plant utilities. The role ensures equipment efficiency, reliability, and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Job Duties Include But Are Not Limited To
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on ammonia cooling plants, boilers, pumps, air compressors, PHE HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, and water treatment plants to ensure continuous operation.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues in utility equipment.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Record and report maintenance activities, breakdowns, and spare part usage.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new utility equipment.
- Monitor energy consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables required for maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide technical support.
Required Qualification
- Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Maintenance.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in utility maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVAC systems, and water treatment plants.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components.

You will report directly to our Field Service Engineer Manager, and you'll work out of our Kuwait location as a site support engineer.
Responsibilities
- To ensure efficient delivery of installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for Honeywell Fire Alarm and Gas Detection Systems at client sites, in line with Honeywell’s standards, local regulations, and project specifications. Troubleshoot system faults, alarms, and perform root cause analysis to restore normal operation. Replace faulty devices and reconfigure panels as needed.
- Documentation & Reporting: Prepare commissioning reports, cause & corrective action reports, test forms, and as-built drawings. Maintain accurate records of service calls, spare part replacements, and system configurations.
- Customer & Project Interface:Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors for approvals, inspections, and client handovers. Support project handover and provide training to customer personnel. Maintain professional relationships and uphold Honeywell’s image on-site.
- Compliance & Safety: Follow Honeywell and client site safety protocols. Ensure work complies with NFPA/EN standards and local Civil Defense (KFF) regulations. Keep systems updated with the latest firmware and software patches.
- Work with the customers to understand their requirements and act as a consultant and provide suggestions for their issues. Maintain Time sheets for billing purpose .Work with solution architects and proposal team for spot proposal submission.
- Escalate issues in a Timely Manner and follow up the same to solve them in the agreed time frame. Report possible future failures, disturbances, and other opportunities for improvement. Act on priority for requests for spares and additional requests from the customer.
- Follow the Honeywell SOPs, HSE and quality systems while delivering the execution of spot services
- Carry out hazard and risk assessments for all tasks as per company policy and procedures.
- Support in delivery of spot services as per the scope of work for the assignment, working in concert with the services Operations leader (SOL) . Maintains communications with SOL and FSM. Mobility between various sites within country. Maintains communications with SOL and client to ensure tight coordination and agreement
- Takes full ownership for delivery as per the scope of work for the assignment, working in concert with the services Operations leader (SOL)
- Pro-actively Manages the SOW and informs SOL/PM of Risks and Opportunities
- Service & Maintenance: Conduct regular preventive maintenance as per the Annual Maintenance Contracts(AMC). Strong knowledge of fixed gas detection systems (point, open path, flame detectors). Familiarity with design and layout of fire detection zones and gas coverage areas. Ability to interpret and work with wiring diagrams, panel schematics, and cause-effect matrices. Sound understanding of networking (Ethernet, RS485, Modbus, BACnet). Carry out site installation verification, loop testing, and system commissioning for Honeywell Fire Alarm Panels (e.g., XLS Range of panels) and Gas Detection Systems (Fixed point-type gas detectors, aspirating systems, flame detectors). Verify all field devices (smoke/heat detectors, MCPs, sounders, gas sensors) for correct installation and functionality. Integrate Honeywell systems with third-party systems via Modbus/BACnet as per design.
- Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOQ to ensure compliance. Willingness to travel to project sites and work for site surveys and data collection. Maintain service records, test reports, and prepare detailed documentation post-intervention for future projects and estimation support
- Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field.
- Sound knowledge of NFPA, local fire codes, and standards.
- Hands-on experience in addressable and conventional fire alarm panels, flame and gas detectors, and system integration. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Good communication and client-handling skills.
- 8–12 years of experience with Fire Alarm, Gas Suppression System and Gas Detection Systems (preferably Honeywell Systems Experience on XLS-3000, XLS-140, XNX & XCD gas detectors and Safety Manager). Carry out site installation verification, loop testing, and system commissioning for Honeywell Fire Alarm Panels (e.g., XLS Range of panels) and Gas Detection Systems (Fixed point-type gas detectors, aspirating systems, flame detectors). Verify all field devices (smoke/heat detectors, MCPs, sounders, gas sensors) for correct installation and functionality. Integrate Honeywell systems with third-party systems via Modbus/BACnet as per design. Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOQ to ensure compliance. Willingness to travel to project sites and work for site surveys and data collection. Maintain service records, test reports, and prepare detailed documentation post-intervention for future projects and estimation support
Qualifications
Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field. Sound knowledge of NFPA, local fire codes, and standards. Hands-on experience in addressable and conventional fire alarm panels, flame and gas detectors, and system integration. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Good communication and client-handling skills. 8–12 years of experience with Fire Alarm, Gas Suppression System and Gas Detection Systems (preferably Honeywell Systems Experience on XLS-3000, XLS-140, XNX & XCD gas detectors and Safety Manager). Hands-on experience with Honeywell XLS3000, XLS-140-2, Verifire Tools and Safety Manager tools. Sound knowledge of NFPA, local fire codes, and standards. Engineer (Project environment) with commissioning and SAT experience

As a Control Field Service Engineer you will be in charge of managing site activities as a Resident Engineer, including, but not limited to, planning, assigning manpower resources and tools, providing technical assistance to complete the work scope according to contractual requirements and ensuring continuous operations at site.
**As a Control Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for**:
- Ensuring total fulfilment and compliance with contractual requirements in close liaison with Baker Hughes Project and Service managers.
- Leading and executing loop check and commissioning phase performing the functional tests.
- Leading and executing unit start-up and performance tests ensuring proper and safe operation of the machine by evaluating the running parameters and troubleshoot control system problem as they arise.
- Preparing field services jobs and interventions with the project managers.
- Supervising the installation, calibration and set up of instruments.
- Supervising cable laying, meggering and connection.
- Writing accurate professional reports acting as single point of contact between Customers and Baker Hughes Engineering team concerning technical issues and interfacing with all involved functions.
- Using company e-tools to retrieve technical documents and management of packing list, bill of material and drawings.
- Ensuring all in-field activities carried out safely complying with company environmental health & Safety (HSE) guidelines and procedures.
**Fuel your passion**
**To be successful in this role you will**:
- Have an Electronic/Mechanic Engineer Degree.
- Have 5+ years related work experience in Oil & Gas industry field activities.
- Have experience in control system for turbine: MK6 and Mk6E control systems. Mk5 skills would be considered as an additional advantage.
- Have strong knowledge in rotating equipment control philosophy (Gas Turbine, Steam Turbine, Centrifugal Compressor, Reciprocate Compressor) and their auxiliaries.
- Have strong knowledge in unit control panel (UCP), motor control center (MCC), direct current panel (DCP) and firefighting system installation and commissioning.
- Have strong knowledge in field devices, instruments and actuators (servo-valves, thermo elements, transmitters etc )
- Have ability to handle special tools like pressure pump, multi-meter, frequency generator, oscilloscope and field generator (MicroCal).
- Understanding and implementing technical drawings (wiring diagram, P&ID, General Arrangement, etc )
- Have good knowledge of English language.
- Have strong analytic and problem solving skills

How you’ll make an impact
- Driving service sales and business development activities across assigned countries and marketsegments (e.g., Utilities, Power Generation, Oil & Gas, EPCs, Industrial clients).
- Performing relay testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting at client substations.
Possess knowledge of structured programming, communication techniques, and protocols for Hitachi Energy relays and familiarity withother relays manufacturers is preferable. - Troubleshooting system protection problems and schemes effectively and understanding different protection and communication schemes and supervising the installation and commissioning of automation systems, ensuring full compliance with standards and bestpractices.
- Demonstrate expertise in testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection systems for all equipment insubstations up to 400 kV voltage level.
- Experience in testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection systems for all equipment inpower stations and refinery environments.
- Training site operators in the use of works and ensure site-specific manuals and documentation are available before handover and are highly familiar with interlocking schemes and gas tripping schemes across all voltage levels from 380 V to 400 kV.
- Consult with clients or their representatives to determine their needs and priorities.
- Provide written procedures for switching, energization, isolation methods for testing, commissioning, and maintenance work.
- Coordinate and oversee substation technicians and electricians, and serve as project manager, serve as the primary customer contact for specific projects, maintain a professional presentation when dealing with employees, clients, and suppliers and be well-versed in technical and safety precautions when working in live substations.
- Possess leadership skills and the ability to lead, supervise, and assign work to the protection team and unnecessary outages while working in Brownfield substations or on any type of energized equipment and experience in troubleshooting electrical parts for various types of switchgear.
- You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
