About the RoleThe Group Tax Analyst is responsible for Kuwait tax operations as well as overseeing the tax operations of Zain Group entities (collectively the “Group”). The responsibilities include tax planning and strategy, compliance, tax audits, and tax accounting matters. Principal functions and major areas of responsibilities include:
- Assistance in the development and implementation of Group corporate tax strategy and Tax Planning initiatives.
- Assistance in the development of tax policies, processes, and procedures designed to add value to the Group.
- Supporting the Group’s Tax Senior Manager, Group functions, and Group entities’ tax departments.
Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Assist in the development and implementation of efficient international and domestic tax structures.
- Monitor and analyze changes in tax cases, domestic and international tax laws and regulations, and assess impact on the Group and its subsidiaries.
- Identify tax risks at the Group and communicate with senior management.
- Manage external tax advisors’ consultancy engagements and participate therewith.
- Assist in the development and management of global tax reporting, tax compliance, and transfer pricing policy for the Group in line with OECD BEPS Action 13 requirements and ensure compliance therewith.
- Ensure compliance with international tax reporting requirements, including Country-by-Country reporting and other BEPS requirements.
- Advise internal stakeholders on international tax issues, such as creation of permanent establishment, foreign withholding tax (WHT) requirements, value-added tax (VAT).
- Advise internal stakeholders on direct and indirect tax implications of intra-group agreements and contractual arrangements with third-party vendors and service providers.
- Ensure completion and filing of all applicable tax returns for the Group’s entities.
- Assist in the development and communication of tax policies, procedures and processes, and internal control procedures and ensure compliance therewith.
- Assist in the development of tax planning initiatives by applying international tax laws, foreign tax laws and double tax treaties to minimize foreign and domestic taxes on foreign income.
- Monitor the effective tax rates of the individual entities and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Support all corporate strategic initiatives, including evaluation of the tax implications of activities, structures, and transactions.
Educational Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- CPA certification (or CPA candidate) is a plus.
- ADIT certification (or ADIT candidate) is a plus.
Experience
- A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in local and international taxation with a Big 4 Firm or a multinational company.
- International tax planning and structuring experience.
Knowledge
- Technical knowledge of tax accounting.
- BEPS Actions, especially Transfer Pricing.
- VAT knowledge is a plus.
- Fluent in both Arabic and English languages.
