The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Maths foundation programs. The IUK is looking for dynamic full-time instructors who are passionate about teaching, contributing to developing a vibrant and successful learning environment with students.
Position Summary
The College of Engineering at the IUK seeks candidates for an assistant/associate professor position to teach Civil & Architectural Engineering courses. The faculty members will teach introductory-level courses in Civil & Architectural Engineering for science and engineering majors, and non-science majors. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to maintain significant scholarly work and professional services. The successful candidate will contribute to develop an outcome-based student-focused curriculum.
The primary role of the faculty members at the IUK is to promote high-quality teaching, research, and services. Besides, he/she should collaborate with the Head of Department, College's Dean, and the colleagues to achieve the department's and College's mission, mentor junior colleagues, and teaching assistants, and support the department and the University with several administrative and academic services.
In addition to teaching, the faculty members are expected to maintain office hours, provide advisement for students and participate in curriculum development, and contribute to the university professional development activities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach different courses according to his/her specialty and experience.
- Promote innovation in teaching by introducing new teaching methodologies and strategies.
- Engage with students in and out of the classroom.
- Promote research activities and other creative work at IUK including publishing in indexed peer-reviewed publications.
- Mentor new colleagues and teaching assistants.
- Support the mission of the Department and College at the IUK by following the set curriculum and working towards achieving the program objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Follow the university bylaws and regulations and promote the institutional environment.
- Commit to teaching schedules, office hours, preparation, service, and professional development.
- Provide academic support to other colleagues in the department.
- Participate in the College's and the University's events and supporting collegiality.
- Support the College and the University in organizing seminars, international conferences, and faculty events.
- Serve in the College's and university's committees as needed.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in Civil & Architectural Engineering or closely related field.
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of university teaching experience at a university/college level.
- Proven experience in using different learning management systems and in adopting e-learning teaching strategies.
- An experience that proves an understanding of a multicultural academic environment, and understanding of students' needs, including those of special needs.
- An experience with various instructional methodologies.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching and scholarship.
- Computer, LMS, and e-learning skills.
Behavioral Skills:

**Senior Structural Engineer** to join our award-winning team based in
**Kuwait**. This position is responsible for overall scheduling, planning, developing design and specifications and other required documents related to structural design as well as mentoring junior engineers.
**Responsibilities**:
We envisage success in this role to include;
- Carrying out structural design without supervision on wide range of building types using variety of systems and materials.
- Providing technical support on any technical / design issues as they arise including construction supervision back-up.
- Providing design review of all work performed by team members including Contractor’s submittals.
- Overseeing and providing coordination support with other disciplines.
- Ensuring correctness and accuracy of own work and the work of his/hers design teams. Ensuring works are completed within program.
- Responsible for Client, Contractor, Sub-Consultants fronting during technical meetings.
- Providing technical support and guidance for structural engineers and BIM technicians.
- Having a strong understanding of building structures, their stability and load transfer systems and be able to analyze them according to complexity.
- Initiating independently viable concept and preliminary designs for various types of buildings using conventional, post-tensioned, pre-cast concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry.
- Having strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrating strong communication, organizational, time management and business writing skills.
- Managing design teams across a variety of small to medium size projects or single team on large scale project.
Qualifications:
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include a minimum of 12 years' post graduation work experience partnered with a
**Bachelor degree in Structural or Civil Engineering**. Working knowledge in the use of at least 3 of the following structural design packages
- **ETABS, SAFE, SAP**, STAAD or RAMCONCEPT.
Knowledgeable in concrete and steel structures design. Experience in Post Tension design is an advantage; with working knowledge in the use of American Design codes.

Specific Accountabilities
- Ensure that contractors comply with all aspects of the Worksite HSE Plan and policy; site regulations, permit to work, WorleyParsons, and Customer requirements.
- Ensure that construction contractors adhere to the latest approved for construction (AFC) project drawings, specifications, procedures, and site instructions.
- Ensure by leadership and guidance that contracted works meet all practical, commercial, requirements of productivity, quality, and contract target completions.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of construction contractors. Maintain daily supervisory surveillance checks and records ensuring that contractor’s management and supervision are providing safe working conditions and permitting procedures, all required competent personnel, protective equipment, adequate supervision, and manpower, with reliable, well-maintained equipment to execute the contracted works as per contract schedule and targets.
- Routinely study, check and review all contractor scope as detailed in drawings, specifications, and instructions, ensuring contractors proper interpretation and compliance with the lasted AFC drawings and specifications.
- Ensure proper change control by issuing Field Instructions for all changes, reviewing Site Queries to ensure responses are appropriate and practical, and reviewing Advanced Revision notices prior to issue to contractors to ensure the correct use of construction resources.
- Ensure contractor's dimensional control methods for checking that the works are properly set out and supervise specialist surveying contractors where necessary.
- Ensure Quality inspectors and contractor supervisors carry out the witness, inspection, and surveillance checks in accordance with the WorleyParsons Quality Plan and the requirements of the Quality Control Manager.
- Ensure that contractors are working in the required work areas, locations, and elevations and that work sequence and interfaces with other contractors are both coordinated and planned to provide continuous working to meet contract schedules.
- Ensure that all construction materials, embedded items, special fixtures are approved for use and that they are stored, protected, and available to workforce locations as required.
- Promote and maintain WorleyParsons, Customer, and contractor best practice working relationships.
- Attend Contractor progress meetings as required.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Must be qualified to at least a diploma level from a recognized Technical Institute
- Must have managed large size projects in the oil & gas industry-leading a team
- Must have pre-commissioning, commissioning, and performance testing experience

**Mandatory Requirements**:
- **Degree in Engineering from a recognized Technical Institute**:
- **Minimum 15 years total post qualification experience**:
- **Minimum 5 years post qualification experience in managing large size oil and gas projects and leading a team; pre-commissioning and commissioning experience**:
- **Minimum 5 years experience in a Construction Supervisor role**
