Data Center Storage Engineers support the enterprise storage infrastructure for all sites within the RCC-SWA Area of Responsibility and provide optimization, administration and technical documentation for the enterprise storage infrastructure. DCSEs resolve enterprise-level change requests and act as the top-level of support escalation for all enterprise storage support issues. Principal technical areas include NetApp, EMC, VMware, Windows DFS, Cisco UCS and other related storage, virtualization, networking, and monitoring technologies.
This position offers company-paid housing and transportation, a completion bonus and tuition reimbursement program!
You must satisfy all host country requirements to legally work in the host country in order to be qualified for this position.
Responsibilities
+ Enterprise-level support for NetApp CIFS, NFS, iSCSI and FC/FCoE storage presented to a wide array of systems including VMware ESXi, Unix, and Linux clients as well as Windows file services and desktop clients. Periodic reports on storage capacity and utilization as well as system uptime and performance. Top-tier support for escalated issues and complex projects. Daily monitoring of all enterprise storage for integrity, reliability, resource utilization and availability. Log review and issue reporting related to monitoring of temperature and overall storage health throughout the SWA AOR.
+ Experienced with VMware storage requirements, configuration, and provisioning. Proficient in planning, installation, configuration, and upgrades of the NetApp storage infrastructure. The top-tier of support for storage projects and solutions for backup, disaster recovery, consolidation/de-duplication, data protection, performance, upgrades, and system audit tasks.
+ Documentation for Tactics, Techniques, and Procedures (TTPs) for configuring and managing storage, storage networks, and physical disks as well as data protection, access control, resource monitoring and management, storage high availability, fault tolerance and scalable storage infrastructure.
+ The work environment will be 95% indoors and 5% outdoors.
+ Perform additional duties as assigned.

+ Education / Certifications: One-year related experience can be substituted for one year of education if the degree is required.
+ Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience preferably in Computer Science or MIS, IS, Engineering or related field.
+ This position requires candidates to adhere to DoD 8570.01. All candidates are required to maintain at least one (1) baseline certification and one (1) computing environment (CE) certification. + Ability to configure and administer VMware vSphere 7.0 +.

Job Summary

The Pre-Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in the sales cycle by providing technical expertise and consultation on storage, hardware infrastructure, networking, and security solutions. This role involves working closely with customers, understanding their requirements, and designing tailored enterprise solutions that align with business needs. The engineer collaborates with sales teams, vendors, and partners to ensure that proposed solutions are viable, scalable, and secure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Consultation & Solution Design:
  • Work with customers to gather technical requirements for storage, hardware, networking, and security solutions.
  • Design and propose infrastructure solutions, including storage systems, servers, network architecture, and security frameworks.
  • Assist in preparing detailed technical proposals, BOMs (Bill of Materials), solution architecture, and sizing.
  • Ensure compatibility between various hardware, networking, and security components to create an optimal IT infrastructure.
  • Work with vendors and distributors to provide the best pricing and support for solutions.
  • Pre-Sales Activities & Customer Engagement:
  • Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to showcase proposed solutions.
  • Act as a trusted advisor, addressing customer concerns and providing insights into storage, hardware, and cybersecurity best practices.
  • Assist in responding to RFIs, RFPs, and tenders, ensuring that proposed solutions meet compliance and technical standards.
  • Work with the sales team to position solutions effectively and develop competitive strategies.
  • Collaboration with Sales, Product, and Technical Teams:
  • Work alongside sales representatives to support deal closure and technical discussions.
  • Stay updated on the latest trends in data storage, enterprise hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Collaborate with technology partners such as NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Pure Storage, and Commvault.
  • Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities based on customer infrastructure needs.
  • Technical Documentation & Training:
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, white papers, and solution briefs.
  • Provide training to customers and internal sales teams on new technologies and best practices in storage, networking, and security.
  • Post-Sales Support & Handover:
  • Work with deployment and support teams to ensure smooth project implementation.
  • Assist in troubleshooting customer concerns and provide Level 1 or Level 2 technical support when necessary.
  • Conduct post-sales reviews to ensure customer satisfaction and explore future expansion opportunities.

Technical Skills

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Storage Solutions: Understanding of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, Object Storage, Backup & Recovery, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
  • Enterprise Hardware: Experience with servers, storage arrays, high-performance computing, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
  • Networking Technologies: Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, SDN, VLANs, VPNs, and data center network design.
  • Security Frameworks: Familiarity with firewalls, Zero Trust, IAM, SIEM, encryption, endpoint security, and compliance requirements.
  • Cloud & Hybrid Solutions: Understanding of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and hybrid cloud storage architectures.
  • Automation & Scripting (Preferred): Knowledge of Ansible, Python, or PowerShell for automating infrastructure management.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales, technical consulting, or solutions engineering role. Local KSA market experience will be considered as plus

Industry Certifications (Preferred)

  • Storage: NetApp NCDA, Dell EMC Storage, HPE Storage, Pure Storage, Commvault.
  • Networking: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, NSE (Fortinet).

  • Write high quality, rigorously designed Python and Golang software
  • Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team
  • Debug issues and produce high quality code to fix them
  • Contribute to technical documentation that define best practices for authoring high quality operators

  • Develop and maintain software for delivery, operations and life-cycle management of Ceph storage

We are hiring a Software Engineer for Ceph & Distributed Storage. As part of Cloud Engineering, you'll be building modelling software to drive systems such as OpenStack, Ceph, and Kubernetes with a focus on distributed storage and Ceph. You'll be engineering solutions to scale in production, working with our field teams to ensure we're meeting the needs of customers looking to adopt cutting-edge technology.

What your day will look like

Write high quality, rigorously designed Python and Golang software Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team Debug issues and produce high quality code to fix them Contribute to technical documentation that define best practices for authoring high quality operators Discuss ideas and collaborate on finding good solutions Develop and maintain software for delivery, operations and life-cycle management of Ceph storage

Functional
