The Role

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic SQL Developer to join our growing data team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining databases and data solutions. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of SQL and database principles, with a proven track record of optimizing database performance and ensuring data integrity.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and implement database solutions, including tables, views, stored procedures, and functions. Write complex SQL queries to retrieve, manipulate, and analyze data. Optimize database performance for speed and efficiency. Ensure data quality, accuracy, and consistency. Troubleshoot and resolve database issues. Collaborate with developers, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data requirements. Create and maintain database documentation. Participate in database design and code reviews. Stay up-to-date with the latest SQL Server features and database technologies. Develop ETL processes to move data between databases.

Ideal Profile

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. 2-3 years of experience as a SQL Developer. Strong proficiency in SQL (e.g., T-SQL, PL/SQL). Experience with database management systems such as SQL Server, MySQL, or Oracle. Understanding of database design principles and normalization. Experience with query optimization and performance tuning. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. Strong communication and collaboration skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Skills

Knowledge of database administration tasks. Familiarity with cloud-based database services (e.g., Azure SQL Database, Amazon RDS, Snowflake). Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau). Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).

Minimum Qualifications:

1. University Degree in Information Technology/Computer Science or Equivalent (Master's degree is preferred).
2. Preferable to be Oracle Certified Professional - DBA.

Required Experience:

1. At least 15 years of experience in RDBMS Administration.
2. Expert in MS SQL Server 2008/12/14/17/19 and other RDBMS like Oracle.
3. RDBMS Clustering experience.
4. Backup and recovery practices in SQL Server.
5. Strong knowledge of SQL Server Administration (DBA) best practices for performance and growth optimization.
6. Capacity of SQL Server monitoring and management.
7. SQL, T-SQL, and PL/SQL Programming and development experience and proficiency is required.
8. Capable of creating Stored Procedures and Triggers with high proficiency.
9. Backup and recovery experience at a first-person level required SQL Server Security Experience.
10. Experience with RDBMS Backup and Recovery.
11. Proficient on SQL Server patching and upgrades, including out of place upgrade.
12. Knowledge of Windows Active Directory, EMC storage, Centera, VMAX, EMC Networker, DATA Domain, VMware, V-Sphere and V-Centre is a plus.

Technical Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Installation, configuration, administration, and maintenance of SQL Server (and/or Oracle) for testing, development, and production environments.
2. Create Users and assign permissions based on the level of database access (Security).
3. Create Linked Servers to SQL Servers and other databases such as Oracle (Security and General Administration).
4. Design database including complex data models and logical database designs.
5. Backup and Restoration Strategy (Database Backups and SQL Server agent).
6. Perform and maintain Backups, monitor backups regularly.
7. Setup High-Availability as per Disaster Recovery Strategy for the Databases (Failover Clustering, Database Mirroring, log shipping, and Replication).
8. Troubleshoot various problems that arise in day-to-day work and fix the issues (Monitoring Error Logs).
9. Plan and conduct structured testing of database designs to confirm functionality and performance.
10. Perform routine and customary operational and monitoring activities to ensure database integrity, stability, availability, and capability of meeting ongoing business needs.
11. Evaluate technology and techniques to implement and maintain databases.
12. Accept the lead for projects as assigned and contribute as a team member to other projects in an ongoing manner.
13. Work directly with development groups helping design DB to interact efficiently with the database.
14. Document major changes to the SQL Servers and provide reports to management.
15. Apply Service Packs and updates as needed.
16. Support local staff in improving their skills and expertise.
17. Prepare and conduct technical presentations.
18. Do other assignments related to RDBMS system as requested.
