Job Description
To lead and manage the commissioning activities of oil and gas facilities—covering mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and process systems—from construction completion through pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing, ensuring all systems are safely and efficiently brought into operation in accordance with project specifications, industry standards, and HSE requirements.
1. Planning & Preparation
- Develop detailed commissioning execution plans, procedures, and schedules aligned with the overall project schedule.
- Coordinate with construction, engineering, operations, and vendors to ensure smooth transition from mechanical completion to commissioning.
- Review and approve system boundary definitions (MC, Pre-Comm, Commissioning).
- Develop and maintain commissioning dossiers, punch list systems, and turnover documentation.
2. Execution & Supervision
- Lead multi-discipline commissioning teams during field execution phases.
- Ensure all commissioning activities are conducted safely, in compliance with project HSE standards.
- Supervise functional testing, loop checks, cause & effect testing, and system energization.
- Interface with vendor representatives for system testing and troubleshooting.
- Lead systems handover from EPC/Contractors to Operations.
3. Coordination & Communication
- Act as focal point between the project team, construction, operations, and third-party contractors during commissioning.
- Participate in and lead progress meetings, interface workshops, and technical reviews.
- Report commissioning progress, risks, and mitigation plans to senior management.
4. Documentation & Handover
- Ensure commissioning records, red-line drawings, and as-builts are updated and properly archived.
- Manage the preparation and approval of system turnover packages and handover certificates.
- Support operations team during plant start-up and performance testing.
Desired Candidate Profile
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Electrical, Process or Instrumentation Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in the oil & gas industry, with at least 5 years in a lead commissioning role on large-scale upstream or downstream projects.
- Proven experience with pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up of major oil and gas facilities.
