Smart Network Interface Cards (Smart NICs, including DPU, IPU, etc) are getting more functionality and processing power to offload more complex and diverse workloads from the host: networking, storage and security. Simultaneously, switching and routing network equipment running proprietary network operating systems (NOS) tends to be replaced by whitebox hardware capable of running Linux-based NOS. These changes are prompted by datacenter architecture scalability and composability challenges as well as ever growing performance requirements. In the process, the industry requires a reliable, open and easy to use operating system to host these functionalities and workloads. Linux is ideally positioned as a kernel, especially with real-time extensions, and as a platform for this ecosystem. Leveraging and complementing Ubuntu, Ubuntu Core, OpenStack, Kubernetes and Juju, Canonical is creating a line of products and services that address primary challenges such as security, device management and orchestration between the Smart NIC, its host, Top of the Rack switches and gateways. This role encompasses leadership of the product and go-to-market in the Smart NIC and ToR switches sector. It requires an analytical storyteller with a strong sense of message, and understanding of the challenges of leveraging Smart NIC and ToR technologies with Linux. We prefer experienced professionals with software engineering management experience who want to become business executives and entrepreneurs to define product strategy and drive engagement. - Lead the product development lifecycle, reviewing the priorities and goals for your product.

- Conduct market research, analyse industry trends, and gather customer feedback to identify opportunities.

- Understanding of computer architectures: x86, ARM, RISC-Vw
- Familiarity with relevant Smart NIC and ToR switches software, standards and the market, including trends, ODMs, silicons, cloud service providers and other key players
- Involvement with Linux networking distribution and software packages, such as SONiC, DENT, FRRouting, VyOS, Open Network Linux (ONL), or Cumulus
- Practical experience with large scale network design, implementation and operation

Job Summary
The Pre-Sales Engineer plays a crucial role in the sales cycle by providing technical expertise and consultation on storage, hardware infrastructure, networking, and security solutions. The engineer collaborates with sales teams, vendors, and partners to ensure that proposed solutions are viable, scalable, and secure.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Consultation & Solution Design:
- Work with customers to gather technical requirements for storage, hardware, networking, and security solutions.
- Design and propose infrastructure solutions, including storage systems, servers, network architecture, and security frameworks.
- Assist in preparing detailed technical proposals, BOMs (Bill of Materials), solution architecture, and sizing.
- Ensure compatibility between various hardware, networking, and security components to create an optimal IT infrastructure.
- Work with vendors and distributors to provide the best pricing and support for solutions.
- Pre-Sales Activities & Customer Engagement:
- Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and Proof-of-Concepts (PoCs) to showcase proposed solutions.
- Act as a trusted advisor, addressing customer concerns and providing insights into storage, hardware, and cybersecurity best practices.
- Assist in responding to RFIs, RFPs, and tenders, ensuring that proposed solutions meet compliance and technical standards.
- Work with the sales team to position solutions effectively and develop competitive strategies.
- Collaboration with Sales, Product, and Technical Teams:
- Work alongside sales representatives to support deal closure and technical discussions.
- Stay updated on the latest trends in data storage, enterprise hardware, networking, cybersecurity, and cloud infrastructure.
- Collaborate with technology partners such as NetApp, Dell EMC, HPE, Cisco, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Pure Storage, and Commvault.
- Identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities based on customer infrastructure needs.
- Technical Documentation & Training:
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, white papers, and solution briefs.
- Provide training to customers and internal sales teams on new technologies and best practices in storage, networking, and security.
- Post-Sales Support & Handover:
- Work with deployment and support teams to ensure smooth project implementation.
- Assist in troubleshooting customer concerns and provide Level 1 or Level 2 technical support when necessary.
- Conduct post-sales reviews to ensure customer satisfaction and explore future expansion opportunities.
Required Qualifications & Skills:
- Storage Solutions: Understanding of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, Object Storage, Backup & Recovery, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI).
- Enterprise Hardware: Experience with servers, storage arrays, high-performance computing, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.).
- Networking Technologies: Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, SDN, VLANs, VPNs, and data center network design.
- Security Frameworks: Familiarity with firewalls, Zero Trust, IAM, SIEM, encryption, endpoint security, and compliance requirements.
- Cloud & Hybrid Solutions: Understanding of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and hybrid cloud storage architectures.
- Automation & Scripting (Preferred): Knowledge of Ansible, Python, or PowerShell for automating infrastructure management.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales, technical consulting, or solutions engineering role. Local KSA market experience will be considered as plus
- Storage: NetApp NCDA, Dell EMC Storage, HPE Storage, Pure Storage, Commvault.
- Networking: CCNA, CCNP, JNCIA, NSE (Fortinet).
- Security: CISSP, CISM, CEH, Palo Alto PCNSA.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Ability to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
- Problem-solving and analytical thinking.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Customer-focused consultative approach.
- Travel may be required for client meetings, PoCs, and technical workshops.
- Remote and hybrid work options may be available depending on company policy.

Technical Skills
Required Qualifications & Skills:
Storage Solutions: Understanding of SAN, NAS, DAS, RAID, Object Storage, Backup & Recovery, and Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI). Enterprise Hardware: Experience with servers, storage arrays, high-performance computing, and virtualization platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, etc.). Networking Technologies: Strong knowledge of network switching, routing, SDN, VLANs, VPNs, and data center network design. Security Frameworks: Familiarity with firewalls, Zero Trust, IAM, SIEM, encryption, endpoint security, and compliance requirements. Cloud & Hybrid Solutions: Understanding of AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, and hybrid cloud storage architectures. Automation & Scripting (Preferred): Knowledge of Ansible, Python, or PowerShell for automating infrastructure management.
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, Telecommunications, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a pre-sales, technical consulting, or solutions engineering role. Local KSA market experience will be considered as plus

Responsibilities
- Individual will be responsible for overseeing maintenance and operations of switches, routers and encryption devices.
- Monitor availability and reliability of LAN/WAN systems.
- Troubleshoots LAN/WAN connectivity.
- Provide technical support for VoIP networks.
- Ensure outages and corrective actions are reported to OIC, Site Manager, Regional Network Operations Center and Regional Cyber Center-Southwest Asia.
