As a Field Service Engineer II, you will have the opportunity to provide advanced technical facilitation and expertise to our customers in the Industrial Automation (IA) business unit.

You will be accountable for troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issue, ensuring the successful implementation of our solutions, and driving customer satisfaction.

You will report directly to our Field Service Engineer Manager, and you'll work out of our Kuwait location as a site support engineer.

Responsibilities

  • To ensure efficient delivery of installation, testing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance services for Honeywell Fire Alarm and Gas Detection Systems at client sites, in line with Honeywell’s standards, local regulations, and project specifications. Troubleshoot system faults, alarms, and perform root cause analysis to restore normal operation. Replace faulty devices and reconfigure panels as needed.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Prepare commissioning reports, cause & corrective action reports, test forms, and as-built drawings. Maintain accurate records of service calls, spare part replacements, and system configurations.
  • Customer & Project Interface:Liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors for approvals, inspections, and client handovers. Support project handover and provide training to customer personnel. Maintain professional relationships and uphold Honeywell’s image on-site.
  • Compliance & Safety: Follow Honeywell and client site safety protocols. Ensure work complies with NFPA/EN standards and local Civil Defense (KFF) regulations. Keep systems updated with the latest firmware and software patches.
  • Work with the customers to understand their requirements and act as a consultant and provide suggestions for their issues. Maintain Time sheets for billing purpose .Work with solution architects and proposal team for spot proposal submission.
  • Escalate issues in a Timely Manner and follow up the same to solve them in the agreed time frame. Report possible future failures, disturbances, and other opportunities for improvement. Act on priority for requests for spares and additional requests from the customer.
  • Follow the Honeywell SOPs, HSE and quality systems while delivering the execution of spot services
  • Carry out hazard and risk assessments for all tasks as per company policy and procedures.
  • Support in delivery of spot services as per the scope of work for the assignment, working in concert with the services Operations leader (SOL) . Maintains communications with SOL and FSM. Mobility between various sites within country. Maintains communications with SOL and client to ensure tight coordination and agreement
  • Takes full ownership for delivery as per the scope of work for the assignment, working in concert with the services Operations leader (SOL)
  • Pro-actively Manages the SOW and informs SOL/PM of Risks and Opportunities
  • Service & Maintenance: Conduct regular preventive maintenance as per the Annual Maintenance Contracts(AMC). Strong knowledge of fixed gas detection systems (point, open path, flame detectors). Familiarity with design and layout of fire detection zones and gas coverage areas. Ability to interpret and work with wiring diagrams, panel schematics, and cause-effect matrices. Sound understanding of networking (Ethernet, RS485, Modbus, BACnet). Carry out site installation verification, loop testing, and system commissioning for Honeywell Fire Alarm Panels (e.g., XLS Range of panels) and Gas Detection Systems (Fixed point-type gas detectors, aspirating systems, flame detectors). Verify all field devices (smoke/heat detectors, MCPs, sounders, gas sensors) for correct installation and functionality. Integrate Honeywell systems with third-party systems via Modbus/BACnet as per design.
  • Review and interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and BOQ to ensure compliance. Willingness to travel to project sites and work for site surveys and data collection. Maintain service records, test reports, and prepare detailed documentation post-intervention for future projects and estimation support

Qualifications

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, or related field.
  • Sound knowledge of NFPA, local fire codes, and standards.
  • Hands-on experience in addressable and conventional fire alarm panels, flame and gas detectors, and system integration. Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills. Good communication and client-handling skills.
  • 8–12 years of experience with Fire Alarm, Gas Suppression System and Gas Detection Systems (preferably Honeywell Systems Experience on XLS-3000, XLS-140, XNX & XCD gas detectors and Safety Manager). Hands-on experience with Honeywell XLS3000, XLS-140-2, Verifire Tools and Safety Manager tools. Sound knowledge of NFPA, local fire codes, and standards. Engineer (Project environment) with commissioning and SAT experience

Job Description

**Description**
The **Field Service Technician** will be considered the technical expert and must be able to answer all technical questions regarding the operation and maintenance of the IBD-SS family of systems. The Field Service Technician will provide support to all locations on a rotational basis. Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Afghanistan, Iraq, and other international destinations.
The **Field Service Technician** is responsible for the testing, repair, and determining disposition of electronic systems and components. Conducts Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) operations, enforces internal quality control standards, and performs evaluation and functional testing of system assets prior to shipping, and maintains records of component status and all work performed. Implement processes and procedures to effectively test and configure products, systems, and components to ensure the complete system is fully mission capable (FMC) prior to shipment to the customer and will provide onsite support to maintain and perform any repairs that arise.
The **Field Service Technician** will rely on extensive experience and judgement to plan and accomplish a variety of tasks to include utilizing electrical test equipment, (i.e., digital multi-meters, oscilloscopes) to meet program goals.
**Responsibilities**
The Maintenance section is responsible for ensuring that all major mechanical and electronic assemblies are fully operational before entering the shipping process. The Field Service Technician is responsible for following the following activities and processes:
+ Have the ability to perform routine system maintenance and computer system administrative functions.
+ Have knowledge of, and be capable of using, operating systems and database management systems.
+ Perform analysis of system operations.
+ Have experience in fault detection, isolation, and correction of computer systems and individual peripheral devices.
+ Evaluate and document field operational capability and report results to the customer and program.
+ Be available for assignments to OCONUS and/or Middle East locations for long-term deployments.
+ Train customer personnel on the use and support of the equipment including all IBD-SS ground support equipment and communications systems.
+ Troubleshoots fiber optic cabling and electrical wiring.
**Special Work Circumstances:**
+ Extensive travel will be required; up to 100% to include Afghanistan, Iraq, and other international destinations.
+ Must be able to deploy to remote international locations with little notification.
+ Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc.) and/or hostile work environment.
+ Must be able to live and work in the Middle East desert with temperatures above 120 degrees F.
**Security Clearance Requirement:**
+ **Existing Secret Clearance. A Secret clearance that has been inactive less than 24 months, and can be quickly reactivated, may also be acceptable** .
+ **Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignments, including comprehensive post-offer medical examination.**
+ **Employment is contingent upon passing a pre-qualification test on networking. Continued employment is contingent on passing subsequent government administered exams during training.**
**Required Skills:**
+ Experience interacting with vendors and government customers.
+ Ability to interpret drawings, wiring and block diagrams.
+ Experience troubleshooting and replacing Line Replaceable Units (LRU).
+ Able to test electronic system wiring and fiber optics cabling utilizing wiring diagrams and associated drawings.
+ Ability to work under limited supervision with strong interpersonal skills.
+ Must be able to multitask, prioritize work, and be adaptive to change.
+ Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
+ Experience with Microsoft office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
+ Must be able to withstand physical demands of an austere environment: seasonal hot/cold temperatures, bending, squatting, lifting/carrying up to 40 pounds using proper lifting techniques, and standing for long periods of time.
+ Ability to climb platforms.
+ Ability to work outdoors in Middle East desert conditions.
+ Able to work 12-hour days and be on call 24/7 while deployed.
**Desired Skills:**
+ Experience with IBD-SS suite of systems.
+ Experience with the Combined Operations Logistics Tracking System (COLTS) Database.
+ Knowledge of PSS-G Tower system hardware and components.
+ Experience installing and maintaining PSS-G Tower systems.
+ Experience with EO/IR camera operation.
+ Experience with FLIR Star Safire sensors.
+ Understanding of sensor or radar system operations and maintenance.
+ Familiarity with operating 2K, 3K and 5K Tactical Quiet Generators (TQG).
+ Experience operating software-based systems utilizing Graphic User Interfaces (GUI).
+ Import/Export (EXIM) compliance experience.
+ Graduate of US military sensor or radar technical school.
+ Knowledge of military protocol.
+ Past military experience is highly desirable.
+ Experience in a combat environment a plus
+ Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.

The Director of Technical Support Services is responsible for providing strategic leadership and oversight across engineering, maintenance, and asset integrity functions. The role ensures operational excellence, lifecycle asset management, and compliance through robust systems, Lean and Six Sigma practices, and advanced asset management platforms.

The director also leads design control processes, equipment upgrade programs, and the establishment of manufacturing units, aligning technical capabilities with business growth and sustainability objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Define and execute the Technical Support Services strategy in alignment with corporate objectives and EVP – Support Services directives.
  • Drive operational excellence through Lean and Six Sigma methodologies to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve quality.
  • Champion digital transformation, automation, and adoption of enterprise asset management platforms to strengthen data-driven decision-making.
  • Lead and govern design control management processes to ensure systematic, compliant, and optimized execution of engineering projects.
Engineering & Technical Support Division
  • Provide high-level technical expertise for design, troubleshooting, and continuous process improvement.
  • Oversee the design, installation, commissioning, and optimization of new manufacturing units and facilities.
  • Ensure robust design control management across all technical projects and product developments.
  • Support process safety, ESG objectives, and technology innovation initiatives.
Maintenance & Reliability Division
  • Develop predictive, preventive, and reliability-centered maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and extend lifecycle value.
  • Lead major equipment upgrade initiatives, ensuring assets are aligned with evolving business needs and industry standards.
  • Standardize maintenance practices across facilities using Lean tools, Six Sigma quality controls, and asset management platforms.
  • Optimize cost efficiency while maintaining reliability, safety, and compliance.
Asset Integrity & Compliance Division
  • Ensure integrity and compliance of all assets with international standards (API, ISO, ASME, etc.) and local regulatory requirements.
  • Implement and oversee risk-based inspection programs and lifecycle integrity strategies.
  • Maintain governance for technical compliance, HSE assurance, and regulatory audits.
  • Drive sustainability initiatives through proactive asset lifecycle planning, upgrades, and replacement strategies.
People & Organizational Development
  • Lead and mentor division managers, cultivating a high-performance and technically competent workforce.
  • Embed Lean and Six Sigma culture across the directorate to build continuous improvement capabilities.
  • Strengthen technical leadership and succession pipelines for long-term organizational resilience.
Governance & Reporting
  • Prepare and present comprehensive reports on asset reliability, compliance, and engineering projects to the EVP – Support Services and executive management.
  • Manage budgeting, capex planning, and prioritization of projects including manufacturing expansions and major equipment upgrades.
  • Represent Technical Support Services in board-level reviews, audits, and cross-functional committees.
Skills
  • Qualifications & Experience : Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline); Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, and asset integrity management, with at least 5 years in senior leadership.
  • Proven expertise in asset management platforms (e.g., SAP EAM, Maximo, or similar).
  • Demonstrated leadership in design control management processes, equipment upgrade programs, and manufacturing unit establishment.
  • Certification in Lean and Six Sigma (Black Belt preferred) with successful track record of deploying continuous improvement projects.
  • Strong knowledge of international standards (API, ISO, ASME, OSHA, etc.) and local regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional projects and digital transformation in industrial or manufacturing environments.
