The Role
We are seeking an experienced and technically proficient Container Handling Equipment (CHE) Specialist to support an Infrastructure & Buildings project, based in Kuwait. This role involves oversight, coordination, and technical review of CHE-related activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, international standards, and safety regulations.
The CHE Specialist will work closely with client representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders to monitor the delivery, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of CHE assets, such as Rubber Tyred Gantry (RTG) cranes, Reach Stackers, Empty Container Handlers, and related terminal equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical oversight and assurance during the design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of container handling equipment.
- Review and comment on contractor submittals, including method statements, inspection and test plans (ITPs), equipment specifications, and O&M manuals.
- Monitor contractor performance to ensure compliance with project requirements, safety protocols, and quality standards.
- Attend factory acceptance tests (FATs), site inspections, and commissioning activities to validate functionality and performance of CHE assets.
- Coordinate with project stakeholders to ensure timely delivery, installation, and handover of CHE systems.
- Assist in resolving technical issues and non-conformities raised during construction or operational testing.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, approvals, and progress against schedule.
- Support the development of maintenance strategies and lifecycle plans for CHE.
- Degree or diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or related Engineering discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant experience, including at least 2–3 years in a PMC or consulting capacity overseeing CHE or port equipment.
- Strong knowledge of CHE systems (e.g. RTGs, Reach Stackers, EC Handlers, Terminal Tractors).
- Experience in reviewing technical documentation and managing QA/QC processes.
- Familiarity with port operations, container terminal layouts, and international industry standards (e.g. IEC, ISO, IMO).
- Experience with construction supervision, installation oversight, and FAT/SAT processes is a strong advantage.
- Technical proficiency in CHE equipment operations, design specifications, and commissioning processes.
- Strong understanding of project lifecycle, particularly in a PMC environment.
- Strong safety awareness and understanding of regulatory compliance in a port or industrial environment.

- Complete assignments on day to day basis and report deviations and take necessary actions.
- Coordinate with production & logistics team, external contractor teams for specialized system maintenance and project execution.
- Planning and coordinating maintenance engineering work including review of mechanical and electrical engineering specifications, performing engineering review of proposed new equipment designs to assess reliability, ease of maintenance, and availability of replacement parts.
- Liaises with production staff to coordinate repair work, statutory safety inspections and supply of new plant and equipment with production schedules.
- Participates in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
The role will be based in Kuwait and will report to the Maintenance Engineer.
Qualifications- ITI/DIPLOMA in Electrical.
- 3 years hands on experience in Paint/Chemical industry would be an ideal fit
- Trouble shooting with VFD Panels and starters like DOL, RDOL, STAR-DELTA
- Testing of LT Panels, PCCs, MCCs, & Capacitor Banks
- Maintain balance in work culture and healthy relation with all the employees.
- Should have hands on experience in Electrical, Mechanical, Pneumatic and Hydraulic systems.

- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and hydraulic issues in utility equipment.
- Conduct inspections and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards.
- Record and report maintenance activities, breakdowns, and spare part usage.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new utility equipment.
- Monitor energy consumption and recommend efficiency improvements.
- Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and adhere to safety protocols.
- Collaborate with the production and engineering teams to minimize downtime.
- Maintain an inventory of tools, spare parts, and consumables required for maintenance tasks.
- Respond promptly to emergency breakdowns and provide technical support.
- Diploma or technical certification in Mechanical, Electrical or Industrial Maintenance.
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in utility maintenance within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
- Strong knowledge of boilers, chillers, air compressors, HVAC systems, and water treatment plants.
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
- Familiarity with industrial safety standards and regulatory compliance.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals.
- Hands-on experience with troubleshooting and repair of electrical and mechanical components.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance.
- Willingness to work in shifts and respond to emergency calls.
- Ability to lift heavy equipment and work in confined spaces.
- Comfortable working in high-temperature and noisy environments.
- Standing, climbing, and bending as required during maintenance tasks.
- Industrial/manufacturing setting with exposure to mechanical and electrical equipment.
- Requires adherence to safety protocols and use of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
