Our regional Support Managers run world-class Support teams – solving deep technical problems for customers around the world on Ubuntu Server, Ubuntu Desktop and on the public cloud. The role entails

…work in a dynamic and exciting engineering role in Linux-based infrastructure and applications, covering all layers of the stack, including bare metal, virtualization (KVM), containerization (Docker/LXC/LXD), storage (Ceph and Linux filesystems), networking (OVS, OVN and Core networking), OpenStack, Kubernetes and the open source applications running on top of them. It will challenge you to show the breadth of your engineering skills, which will be needed to work on almost any aspect of Ubuntu and the open source applications large enterprise customers run.

This role is an opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and open source to build a career with Canonical and drive success for our customers, community and the company. This role deals with critical issues in the open source stack that require upstream bug fixes. Our engineers are able to work productively at any level of the stack including the kernel and in a wide range of languages, to understand and address the software issues at hand. Our group is critical to the success of our customers, partners and Ubuntu itself.

You will help with troubleshooting and driving issues to resolution with workarounds, guidance, and bug fixes to be released upstream and in Ubuntu.

Location: This is a remote role, we have teams in all time zones.

The role entails

  • Resolve complex customer problems related to Ubuntu, Kernel, Ceph, OpenStack, or Kubernetes and other open source software
  • Maintain a close working relationship with Canonical's Field, Support and product engineering teams
  • Participate in upstream communities
  • Develop bug fixes, backport patches, and work with upstream for inclusion
  • Review code produced by other engineers
  • Demonstrate good judgment in technical methods and techniques
  • Prioritize work and manage your time effectively against those priorities
  • Participate in team discussions to improve processes, tools, and documentation
  • Maintain clear, technical and concise communications
  • Work from home and travel internationally up to 10% of work time for team meetings, events and conferences

The role entails

  • Investigate issues reported by customers by researching and escalating issues

  • Ownership of results: Ensure that each support case owned by you is handled according to our Service Level Agreement (SLA) with the highest possible customer satisfaction by setting the right expectations and fulfilling your commitments.
  • Engage directly with customers and work collaboratively by phone, ticketing system, and remote sessions to resolve their issues.
  • Participate in a regular weekend working rotation.
  • Contribute new knowledge base articles and maintain existing articles, ensuring shared knowledge and lessons learned are available to customers.
  • Understanding Ubuntu development process to be able to set customer expectations correctly on timeline for a fix.

What are we looking for in you

  • Professional written and spoken English with excellent presentation skills
  • Exceptional academic track record from both high school and university
  • Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or a compelling narrative about your alternative chosen path
  • Track record of going above-and-beyond expectations to achieve outstanding results

Job Description

Responsibilities

  1. Assisting the users in generating the required map-based reports from the System.
  2. Assisting hardware engineers in resolving System related issues.
  3. Providing advice, information and GIS related hands-on training to users on System functions.
  4. Documenting details of all changes and customizations made to the System.
  5. Providing other support services as instructed from time to time by the Superintendent.
  6. Delivering awareness sessions periodically to the users in all Company sites.

Requirements

  1. Minimum six (6) years' experience in ESRI Products and solutions.
  2. Minimum of eight (8) years' experience in System software support and user training.
  3. Certified in Windows 2016 Server and/or related areas.
  4. Well skilled in SQL database administration.
  5. ESRI Technical Certification in Desktop Domain & Comp TIA CTT+ Certification.

Education

  1. BS. in computer engineering/computer science or related areas.

Generic & Specific Skills:
• Shall be able to read, write and speak English language freely.

Job Description

Perform assigned IT daily operations regarding hardware and software utilization, IT security rules & regulations, managing server room and network administration, preparing IT infrastructure for new employees, stores and restaurants, data backup and providing support to end users as per IT standards, policies, and procedures.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot servers, network, and Desktops infrastructure.
  • Provide regular support for all production servers, services, network firewalls and security equipment’s including CCTV, Biometric systems etc.
  • Ensure new & existing stores and restaurants have all required IT infrastructure.
  • Plan and execute scheduled maintenance and upgrades for servers, network, and Desktop hardware.
  • Provide technical support to all departments and business units related to Application, Security, Internet etc.
  • Prepare and update network diagrams for offices and other work locations.
  • Administer Data backups, recovery and anti-viruses for Servers and Desktop.
  • Maintain records and track of all software, hardware & network licenses, IT support contracts and renewals.
  • Coordinate with suppliers & vendors for IT related support and purchase IT accessories when required.
  • Perform corrective & preventive maintenance for all IT equipment in Datacenter and End-users.

Skills

Experience & Qualification

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, Software Engineering or similar
  • At least 3 – 5 years’ experience in the similar field
  • Well experienced with Microsoft & Cisco certificates, Servers, and IT infrastructure
  • English communication, Arabic is preferable
