We are seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the electrical design review, installation, testing, and commissioning of all electrical systems for our new state-of-the-art data center facility. This role ensures that all power infrastructure — including high-voltage, low-voltage, backup power, and distribution systems — is designed, installed, and commissioned in line with international standards, project specifications, and operational requirements.
You will play a key role in ensuring operational readiness by developing procedures, maintenance plans, and technical documentation for seamless post-handover operations.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Design Review & Technical Oversight
- Review and validate electrical designs, single-line diagrams, BOQs, and specifications for compliance with project requirements and standards (IEC, IEEE, NFPA, Uptime Institute).
- Provide engineering solutions that enhance redundancy, efficiency, maintainability, and reliability.
Coordination with Project Teams & Contractors
- Collaborate with PMO, consultants, and contractors to ensure delivery as per approved designs.
- Review and approve shop drawings, method statements, and material submittals.
Installation & Quality Control
- Oversee installation of HV/LV distribution systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and lighting.
- Conduct inspections to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and technical specifications.
Testing & Commissioning
- Develop and review commissioning plans.
- Witness and verify functional, performance, and integrated testing.
- Ensure defects are resolved prior to final acceptance.
Operational Readiness
- Prepare O&M manuals, preventive maintenance schedules, and spare parts lists.

Minimum Professional Experience
- 8+ years of electrical engineering experience, with at least 5 years in large-scale construction or data center projects.
- Proven expertise in HV/LV power distribution, UPS systems, and backup power design and commissioning.
- Familiarity with international data center standards and electrical codes.

- Produce enterprise-level support for a dynamic and large-scale networking infrastructure from the perspective of service origination in the data center, as well as service delivery in the global transport architecture. Provide expert level knowledge of data center infrastructure hardware such as Nexus 9000 series switches, Fabric Extenders, UCS chassis’ and UCS Fabric Interconnects. The Head of Operations – Kuwait will lead the end-to-end management and performance of Syntys’ data center operations in Kuwait. This role is accountable for ensuring operational excellence, reliability, safety, and efficiency across all facilities, while driving alignment with Syntys’ regional operational framework and strategic objectives. As a key member of the Kuwait Digital Hub leadership team, the Head of Operations provides strategic oversight of the data center’s operations, including infrastructure management, service delivery, EHS compliance, and resource optimization. The role requires a hands-on, forward-thinking leader capable of standardizing processes, building high-performing teams, and ensuring the highest levels of operational integrity and customer satisfaction
This role will have a dual reporting line. The tactical reporting line will be to the Kuwait Country Manager for day-to-day operations and local performance, while the strategic reporting line will be to the Syntys Group Chief Operating Officer / VP of Operations to ensure alignment with global operational strategy and framework.
ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Oversee all aspects of data center operations in Kuwait, ensuring maximum uptime, safety, and efficiency across all facilities.
- Implement and enforce Syntys’ operational standards, policies, and best practices to ensure consistency, reliability, and compliance.
- Drive operational readiness for new facilities, expansions, and upgrades in coordination with Engineering, Project Delivery, and EHS teams.
- Lead and mentor the local operations team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
- Manage maintenance programs, asset lifecycle, and vendor performance to optimize operational costs and service delivery.
- Ensure full compliance with local regulations, EHS standards, and certifications (ISO, Uptime, etc.), maintaining a proactive risk management approach.
- Develop, monitor, and report key operational performance metrics (KPIs) and dashboards to the Country Manager and VP Operations.
- Support financial management of operational budgets (OPEX and CAPEX), ensuring cost control and efficiency.
- Serve as the key operational liaison with internal and external stakeholders, including customers, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Promote sustainability, innovation, and energy efficiency initiatives to support Syntys’ long-term environmental and operational goals.
- Collaborate closely with the VP Operations and other functional heads to ensure alignment with Syntys’ regional operations strategy and growth objectives.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred) or equivalent work experience.
- Fluent in English, Arabic language capability preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, with exposure to data centers or mission-critical infrastructure.
- Strong track record of managing operations in Kuwait or wider MENA region.
- Proven ability to lead geographically dispersed and multicultural teams.
- Expertise in procurement, vendor management, and contract negotiation in the Data Center / Technology sector.
