The **Army - Aviation Life Support Equipment (ALSE) Technician** serves as focal point for all logistics and repair functions for all supplied ALSE, first aid kits and Night Vision Devices.
- Inspects and approves completed maintenance actions, solves repair problems by studying drawings, wiring diagrams and schematics, and technical publications.
- Inspects, instructs, services and certifies individual and crew equipment.
- Order, receive and inventory kits and components.
- Resolve shipping discrepancies.
- Ensure proper fit of crew member clothing.
- Maintain ALSE and NVD for DoS and DI personnel.
- Maintain computerized inventories and records to ensure timely and accurate compliance with inspection intervals.
- Provides instruction to contractor and host nation personnel regarding the proper use and care of equipment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Requirements**:
- High School diploma or equivalent is required.
- One (1) year verifiable experience as an ALSE technician
- Must possess a certificate of training as a school trained ALSE Technician
- Valid US Passport (minimum 2.5 years validity) Required for deployment to Germany.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance, NAC-I T1 Public Trust. ** **US Citizenship is required** to obtain a T1/CAC NACI Clearance.
- Must meet and be able to pass CENTCOM Medical requirements, prior to deployment.
- Ability to obtain a favorable background check for Kuwait PCC and obtain a Kuwait Visa.
**Knowledge & Skills**
- CMF 92 Supply & Services MOS series or another military/commercial equivalent (92R MOS preferred).
- Must have working knowledge of aircrew and aircraft LSE requirements for extreme environmental and high-risk areas of operation.
- Must be able to ascertain LSE requirements for a multi-type aircraft environment.
- Must have knowledge of basic theory of flight and aircraft systems nomenclatures.
- Must have knowledge of flight line/ramp safety procedures and aircraft fire-fighting procedures.
- Must have knowledge of aviation maintenance data systems and associated documentation/forms.
- Must have knowledge of life support equipment maintenance tools and tool control procedures.
- Must have knowledge of seat kit survival components.
- Must have knowledge of aircrew life raft and life preserver inspections/maintenance.
**Physical Requirements/Working Environment**
- Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for up to six hours per day and sit for up to two hours per day.
- Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, and ladders and work stands.
- Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
- May be required to carry, push or pull up to 50 pounds.
- May be required to lift up to 50 pounds to height of four feet and be required to lift up to 35 pounds to height of 7 feet.
- Must be able to communicate by voice and detect sounds.
- Must be able to distinguish color and judge three dimensional depths.
- May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
- Must have minimum 20/100 near and far vision, correctable to 20/20. Must also be able to focus night vision devices (NVD) at a distance of at least 20 feet.

Overview
The KC-130J Aviator’s Life Support Equipment Technician will troubleshoot and or repair malfunctions in the aircraft safety and survival systems as well as all aircrew safety and life support equipment. Perform assigned maintenance to specified KC-130J standards, to include performing operational testing procedures and required functional tests in support of the KC-130J maintenance manual series. Performance abilities will include maintenance and serviceability procedures for subsystem components, to include pressurization & environmental systems, fire suppression, life rafts, cartridge actuated devices (CADs) and aviator’s breathing oxygen component removal, inspection, and reinstallation. In the course of assigned duties will apply a thorough knowledge of aircraft safety and survival system and aircrew safety and life support equipment engineering principles, techniques, and methods in the maintainability of existing equipment and systems. Possess competent abilities in the use and application of hand tools, power tools, and associated precision measuring equipment used in support of system testing, evaluation, and operation. Possess the ability to read and interpret manufacturers' maintenance manuals, service bulletins, technical data, engineering data, diagrams, schematics, and other specifications to determine feasibility and method of repairing or replacing malfunctioning or damaged components.

High School Diploma Must be able to obtain/maintain the following required certifications/qualifications: Aviation Gas Free Engineering (AVGFE) certification Hydraulic Contamination certification Explosive handling certifications (previous qualification documentation required) Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) run qualification Applicable Support Equipment licensing S&S and Flight Equipment (13A & 13B) Collateral Duty Inspector (CDI) qualification S&S and Flight Equipment (13A & 13B) Collateral Duty Quality Assurance Representative (CDQAR) qualification Corrosion Prevention and Control and Aircraft Paint qualification Confined Space Entry certification
Experience
Four years’ maintenance experience with C-130J Aviator’s Life Support Equipment/Environmental Control Systems preferred. Naval Aviation Maintenance Program (NAMP) 4790.2 or equivalent experience with Air Force Instruction 21-101 preferred. Must have a working knowledge of first aid procedures to be used in an emergency. Must have a strong knowledge base of aviation maintenance programs, processes, and procedures (example: Safety, Tool Control, ABO, Egress, HAZMAT, inspection programs, administrative requirements, support equipment, calibration/torque programs & procedures).
Specific Requirements
Must be United States (U.S.) citizen, be able to read, write, and understand the English language Must be able to obtain a United States Passport. If you currently possess a United States Passport it must have at least 24 months of time remaining before expiration. Must have a valid U.S. Driver’s License. Must be willing to follow Kuwait Labor Law policies and able to adhere to and comply with all Kuwaiti Labor and Immigration requirements. Must be willing to administrate, maintain, and manage maintenance programs (ex. Tool Control, HAZMAT, FOD, MetCal, etc…) as required by local policies. Must be willing and able to comply with all contractual Performance Work Statement (PWS) Requirements to include but not limited to: The performance of “I” Level maintenance functions in support of In-Flight Refueling Reel/system maintenance, NLG & MLG Tire re-building, MLG Brake repair/rebuilding, Battery maintenance support, and Oxygen Regulator testing/repair. Must be willing and able to deploy off-site as required to support Kuwait Air Force operations. Must be willing to work flexible hours, to include day shift, night shift or weekend duty and travel as part of a maintenance recovery team as required. Must have the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and follow instructions when directed on assigned tasks. Must have skills and aptitude to cross train and/or support other maintenance technicians in completing assigned maintenance actions, to include but not limited to: The performance and completion of daily inspections (including the ability to inspect/sign off on all associated aircraft maintenance/technician specialties), marshalling/recovering aircraft, fueling, towing, mooring, and conducting post flight procedures to ensure aircraft are properly secured upon completion of maintenance. As a Subject Matter Expert, must be willing to perform in-depth research, troubleshoot, and perform “O” and “I” level maintenance functions on all applicable aircraft systems and components necessary to return aircraft to a Full Mission Capable status; this includes determining material requirements, researching part numbers, ordering, tracking, and receiving materials as required to facilitate aircraft inspections/repairs. Must be able to communicate directly with the customer, pilots, air crew members, management, and maintenance personnel to gather and relay pertinent data/information necessary to ensure aircraft depart timely and launches are not delayed. Must have an in-depth knowledge of aircraft technical orders/job guides/publications—read, interpret, follow and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts and technical publications. Must have an in-depth knowledge (aircraft/vehicle movement and safety/hazards) of flight line operations. Must be able to overcome cultural differences and to think outside the box, innovate, and provide solutions to the many complex problems and obstacles associated with international contracting and desert climate operations. Must perform as a team member, contributing to the success of the C-130J maintenance department. Must be dependable and timely in managing assigned tasks, perform consistent quality maintenance. Must have a proven ability to work independently with minimal direction.
