This is an opportunity to run a Professional Services team (also known as Field Engineering) team, helping customers understand and implement Canonical's open source solutions in public clouds and in their own data centers. The Field Engineering team is our team of cloud solutions architects at Canonical, working directly with our customers, designing private and public cloud solutions fitting their workload needs. Knowledge of cloud computing concepts & technologies, such as Kubernetes, Openstack, AWS, GCP, Azure, Ceph, etc. Practical knowledge of Linux and networking Experience in technical presales You are a dynamic person who loves to jump in new projects and interact with people Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English Passion and a track record of developing and growing people Experience in leading, coaching and mentoring engineers Organised and able to ensure your team delivers timely, high quality results An exceptional academic track record from high school and, preferably, university as well Willingness to travel up to 40% of the time. Responsibilities
  • Technical Opportunity Leadership
    • Partner with Cloud Solutions Sellers to qualify opportunities and shape technical solution approaches.
    • Lead the technical discovery process, mapping customer requirements to cloud capabilities across Azure, GCP, and Microsoft 365.
    • Create solution architectures, reference designs, and roadmaps for enterprise workloads (infrastructure, data/AI, security, productivity, apps).

    • Work hand-in-hand with the Cloud Solutions Seller to orchestrate opportunities from a technical perspective.
    • Engage product specialists and engineers to strengthen proposals.
    • Ensure smooth handover from pre-sales design into implementation/delivery phases.
  • Thought Leadership & Enablement
    • Stay current with cloud technology roadmaps, competitive offerings, and best practices.
    • Represent the technical voice of the customer to vendors (Microsoft, Google) for escalations and feedback.
    • Mentor internal teams and partners to elevate cloud technical expertise.
Qualifications
  • 8+ years of technical experience in enterprise IT architecture, presales engineering, or solution consulting.
  • Strong hands-on knowledge of Azure and/or GCP services, and Microsoft 365 (identity, security, collaboration).
  • Demonstrated ability to design and validate cloud architectures for large-scale enterprise workloads.
  • Excellent communication skills: ability to simplify complex concepts for both technical and business audiences.
  • Proven ability to engage at both CxO level (strategic) and architect level (technical depth).
