TITLE: CULINARY ARTS TEACHER
REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL
Primary Purpose:
The Culinary Instructor is responsible for teaching adults of all ages the basics of gourmet cooking, along with the importance of daily nutrition. In addition, they should provide classes with a fun, conversational experience while cooking.
Responsibilities:
Serving as a classroom leader by providing high quality, differentiated instruction to students
Setting rigorous academic and behavioral goals for students and investing students in these goals
Planning and delivering content that covers, but is not limited to, food safety and sanitation, commercial food preparation, meal production and planning, customer service, catering, and culinary arts
Designing and implementing high-quality, thorough lesson, unit, and long-term plans that equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary to master daily objectives and grade-level standards
Preparing, leveraging, and delivering constructive feedback to students aimed at improving their academic performance
Consistently implementing and enforcing rules and consequences in the classroom setting and school-wide
Providing continuous evaluation of student progress that is consistent with district established goals and policies, and clearly communicating this progress to all necessary stakeholders
Maintaining, monitoring, and reporting students’ grade and attendance records
Taking personal responsibility for students’ mastery of academic standards
Effectively and innovatively incorporating technological resources into classroom lessons
Committing to continual professional growth that leads students to achieve the greatest learning gains
Attending and actively participating in all professional development, team planning, and data analysis meetings
Qualifications:
Bachelors’ Degree from an accredited college or university
A minimum of two years of supervisory experience in cooking instruction/teaching.
A positive attitude and a willingness to provide exceptional service and to act as a leader in all culinary activities.
About American Baccalaureate School:
ABS is a private, non-profit school offering an American-based curriculum including a wide variety of advanced courses, and a college preparatory program, guiding students to become independent, intellectual global citizens. It is our goal to develop responsible and accountable young adults who are prepared for the challenges of international universities. The American Baccalaureate School opened its doors in September 2006 to 550 students. We now have over 1,300 students enrolled from pre-Kindergarten through 12th grade.
