Overview
We are looking for a highly creative and experienced R&D Chef to join our culinary innovation team. This role is ideal for a culinary professional who is passionate about food science, flavor development, and creating new dining experiences. The R&D Chef will be responsible for conceptualizing, testing, and refining new recipes and food products that align with our brand’s vision and market trends. As a R&D Chef, you will collaborate closely with product development teams, marketing, and operations to ensure that new culinary creations are not only innovative but also scalable and cost-effective. You will conduct ingredient research, experiment with cooking techniques, and stay ahead of industry trends to bring fresh ideas to the table. Your work will directly influence menu development, packaged food products, and culinary strategies across the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong culinary background, preferably with experience in Diet foods, calories and high-volume production environments. A deep understanding of food safety, nutrition, and sensory evaluation is essential. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced, experimental kitchen environment and be able to document and communicate your findings clearly to cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities- Create new recipes and food products, or reformulate existing ones, considering factors like taste, quality, consistency, and nutritional targets. Develop and test new recipes and food concepts
- Evaluate and select ingredients based on quality, cost, availability, and their impact on product development.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams on product development
- Conduct ingredient and flavor research
- Develop recipes and processes that are both high-quality and cost-effective for large-scale production. Ensure scalability and cost-effectiveness of new dishes
- Maintain detailed records of culinary experiments, recipes, and standard operating procedures for consistency and scale-up.
- Stay informed about emerging food trends, new technologies, and consumer preferences to inform new product concepts. Stay updated on food trends and consumer preferences
- Ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards
- Participate in sensory evaluations and taste panels
- Train kitchen staff on new recipes and techniques
- Support marketing with product presentations and tastings
- Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience
- 5+ years in a culinary role, with R&D experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of food science and nutrition
- Excellent research and evaluation skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, experimental environment
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Experience with high-volume production and scalability
- Creative mindset with attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and recipe management software
- Understanding of food safety regulations and HACCP
