**REPORTS TO: PRINCIPAL**
**Primary Purpose**:
- **Painting**
- **Curriculum Development**: Develop a curriculum that covers a range of painting techniques (e.g., watercolor, oil, acrylic) and styles (e.g., realism, abstract, impressionism). Include historical and contemporary art contexts to enrich students' understanding and appreciation.
- **Technique Instruction**: Teach foundational and advanced painting techniques, color theory, composition, and texture. Encourage experimentation with various brushes, tools, and surfaces.
- **Critique and Feedback**:Provide constructive feedback on students’ work, fostering an environment where critique is seen as a valuable part of the learning process.
- **Exhibition Preparation**: Guide students in preparing their work for school exhibitions, including framing, presentation, and discussing their work with an audience.
- **Drawing and Sketching**
- **Skill Development**: Focus on developing core drawing skills, including perspective, shading, figure drawing, and still life. Introduce a variety of drawing mediums (pencil, charcoal, pastels, ink).
- **Creative Exercises**: Implement exercises that boost creativity and imagination, such as blind contour drawing, gesture drawing, and expressive mark-making.
- **Digital Arts**
- **Software Proficiency**: Teach students to use industry-standard software for digital painting, graphic design, animation, and 3D modeling. Keep abreast of technological advancements and update the curriculum accordingly.
Across all these mediums, a teacher's responsibilities extend beyond mere instruction in techniques. They include nurturing a supportive classroom environment, fostering critical thinking, encouraging experimentation, and integrating arts education with broader educational goals. The aim is to equip students not only with technical skills but also with the confidence to express themselves creatively and to appreciate the value of art in society and personal development.
**Qualifications**:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in fine arts or related field.
- Teaching certification for the level at which you will be instructing.
- Prior experience as a Fine Arts Teacher especially at the Middle of High School level is highly desirable.
- Excellent presentation abilities.
- Strong written and administrative skills.
- Nurturing, adaptable approach to instructing.

Job Description
The International University of Science & Technology in Kuwait (IUK) is a newly established private university in Kuwait, with a new Campus located in the heart of Kuwait near the Avenues Mall. Fully accredited by the Private Universities Council (PUC), the University offers a wide range of academic programs in Engineering, Business, and Arts and Social Sciences. In addition to the academic programs, the IUK has established the University Foundation Program (UFP) that offers English and Math foundation programs. The IUK is looking for dynamic full-time instructors who are passionate about teaching, contributing to developing a vibrant and successful learning environment with students.
Position Summary
The Department of Humanities and Fine Arts in the College of Arts at the IUK seeks candidates for an Assistant/Associate professor position to teach courses in areas related to human creativity, including visual arts, theatre, music, film, culture, philosophy, and history. The faculty members will teach introductory-level courses in humanities and fine arts, as well as upper-level undergraduate courses in the area of specialization and related fields. In addition to teaching, successful candidates are expected to maintain significant scholarly work and professional services.
The primary role of the faculty members at the IUK is to promote high-quality teaching, research, and services. Besides, he/she should collaborate with the Head of Department, College's Dean, and colleagues to achieve the department's and College's mission, mentor junior colleagues and teaching assistants, and support the department and the University with several administrative and academic services.
The teaching load is 12 credits/contact hours per week. In addition to classes, the faculty members are expected to maintain office hours, provide advisement for students, participate in curriculum development, and contribute to the university professional development activities.
Responsibilities:
- Teach different History, Humanities, Fine Arts, and History courses according to his/her specialty and experience.
- Promote innovation in teaching by introducing new teaching methodologies and strategies. Engage with students in and out of the classroom.
- Mentor new colleagues and teaching assistants. Support the mission of the Department and College at the IUK by following the set curriculum and working towards achieving the program objectives and student learning outcomes.
- Follow the university bylaws and regulations and promote the institutional environment. Commit to teaching schedules, office hours, preparation, service, and professional development.
- Provide academic support to other colleagues in the department.
- Participate in the College's and the University's events and support collegiality.
- Support the College and the University in organizing seminars, international conferences, and faculty events.
- Serve in the College's and university's committees as needed.
Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in one of the following domains:
- Humanities
- Fine Arts
- History
- Philosophy
- Islamic Culture
- Islamic Civilization
Experience:
- A minimum of three years of teaching experience at a university/college level.
- A proven experience in using different learning management systems and in adopting e-learning teaching strategies.
- An experience that proves an understanding of a multicultural academic environment, and understanding of students' needs, including those of special needs.
Technical Skills:
- Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- General computer and LMS skills.
Behavioral Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- People and time management skills.
- A passion for teaching.
