This role is an opportunity for a technologist with a passion for Linux and Cloud technologies to build a career with Canonical and drive the success with those leveraging Ubuntu and open source products. The BootStack team designs, builds, and operates modern distributed systems on private infrastructure for customers. From Kubernetes to OpenStack and everything in-between, you'll be working with the latest technology in a fast-paced engineering environment. As a Cloud Engineering Manager for the BootStack team, you will be responsible for managing the engineers that oversee day-to-day Managed Service of customer environments, including customer service management, managed services operations and consistent product improvement engineering. Collaboration with customers, product engineering, and operations is critical to success.
Location: This is a globally remote role.
The role entails
- Manage a growing engineering team to optimise the quality and velocity of both development and operations
- Identify and measure team health indicators
- Implement disciplined engineering and operations processes
- Represent the BootStack team with respect to stakeholders, customers, and external teams
- Ensure proper team focus on priorities, milestones, and deliverables
- Work to meet service level agreements with customer deployments around the globe
- Deliver quality managed services in a consistent, timely manner
- Bachelors (or equivalent) education in a technology field
- Proven track record of professional experience of either software delivery using Python, Go, C, C++, Java, or similar and/or managing operations teams
- Proven experience with OpenStack
- Demonstrated strong commitment to testing methodologies and maintainable code quality
- Experience with Linux system administration, Ubuntu/Debian a plus
- Strong communication and cooperation skills
- Experience with agile software development methodologies
- Experience working in and managing distributed teams
- Technical aptitude for understanding complex distributed systems
- Experience with cloud topologies and technologies
- Travel to team and company events and customer meetings, roughly 20% or less

Weatherford is seeking a skilled and results-driven Field Specialist III – MPD to join our team. This pivotal role is responsible for optimizing MPD and drilling processes, enhancing efficiency, and driving profitability. The ideal candidate will work closely with country and regional team to ensure accurate reporting and compliance. Additionally, this role plays a key part in conducting Operations safely and with minimal interruption to drilling. The job requires occasional package preparation in the Weatherford base where full compliance to Weatherford performance standards is required.
Responsibilities:
- Conducts maintenance of the Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment at the job site and workshop when required.
- Responsible for daily MPD reporting, hydraulic calculations, simulations and supervises shift personnel.
- At the discretion of product line management (such as the Engineering Manager, Operations Manager, or their designee) will be responsible for working in the shop. This will include but not limited to green tagging, preparing, and/or assisting with shipping equipment to job site.
- Rig up, operate and perform troubleshooting of the Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment at the job site or workshop, ensure all paperwork and HSE requirements are met and complied with
- Perform green tagging, In Casing Test, or other operational activities required on location or in the shop and all documented procedures for the Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment on location.
- Perform all RCD operations and monitoring.
- Performs field operations of Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment including operating the MPD Choke from the Operator’s Panel
- Troubleshoot all electrical/electronic components and repair/maintain chokes and other mechanical equipment as necessary.
- Completes all the necessary reports/paperwork related to Managed Pressure Drilling Services operations.
- Keeps updated on all inspection requirements for the Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment on the job site and in the shop.
- Demonstrate and apply knowledge and understanding of all matters related to the Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment and accessories.
- Provides onsite job support to include but not limited to: mechanical, hydraulic functionality, revision changes, compatibility issues, troubleshooting, system versions, of Managed Pressure Drilling Services components.
- Keep updated on Managed Pressure Drilling Services equipment, mechanical and hydraulic equipment manufacturing or regulatory standards.
- Know and understand Weatherford Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions
- Comply with Weatherford and client Quality, Health, Security and Environment (QHSE) procedures and documentation on site for specific shift.
- Document all jobs and incidents in the Weatherford Performance Tracking System (WPTS).
- Participate in the Permit to Work process.
- Actively participate in ToolBox talks.
- Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford
- Required to complete the competency and training requirements identified by Global and Regional Management.
- Complete training in order to meet the minimum HSE certification and technical requirements required perform their jobs
- Perform all duties regarding Managed Pressure Drilling Services and Weatherford assigned by management or supervisors within the physical demand of the job description.
