• English Foundation Program Instructor

Adjunct faculty members will be responsible for teaching courses in their respective disciplines, assisting with course development, and contributing to the academic growth of AIU’s students. English Language Instructors – Foundation Skills Program

The Australian College of Kuwait seeks successful and experienced English Language Instructors to start immediately, to join its English Language and Foundation Skills Programme. The positions are principally required for the delivery and assessment of English language subjects, and may also include Study Skills, Report Writing, and Personal Development Skills. The positions report to the Head of Foundation English.

Essential criteria:

1. Masters Degree in relevant discipline, preferably in areas of Applied Linguistics, Adult Literacy or TESOL
2. Professional certification in teaching English language such as CELTA Grade B or above, TESOL, TEFL or other relevant certification
3. Minimum of 5 years relevant adult teaching experience, preferably within a variety of international settings and/or with Arab learners
4. Information Technology (IT) skills – Microsoft Office Suite
5. Native English-Language speaker

Desirable criteria:

1. Professional certification in teaching, such as PGCE or QTS (UK)
2. Bachelors degree related to Education
3. Previous experience in teaching business or engineering English
4. Experience of teaching writing / in a writing center preferable

These positions within the Department of Mathematics offer the opportunity to join a dynamic environment delivering foundation, diploma, and undergraduate programs in engineering and business. The positions report to the Head of Mathematics.

Responsibilities:

1. Teaching at foundation, diploma, and undergraduate levels.
2. Contributing to curriculum development.

Requirements:

• A good first degree and postgraduate degree in mathematics or a related discipline.
• Recent industry or equivalent academic experience.
• The ability to teach and supervise foundation, diploma, and undergraduate students, ideally with some experience in problem-based learning.
• The ability to build collaborative internal and external relationships and experience of working successfully as part of a team.
