Overview

The Computer Service Technician applies understanding, knowledge, and guidance of information systems hardware and software to provide problem resolution, diagnosis, and solutions in a service center environment. Responsibilities include recognizing, researching, isolating, and resolving first-level information systems problems, performing technical inspections for all work processed in the Automated Data Processing Equipment (ADPE) Bench, and performing other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical maintenance and service for all ADPE equipment.
  • Evaluate equipment for malfunctions and deficiencies.
  • Perform baseline procedures and hardware replacement.
  • Work closely with the Systems Support Specialist, Lead (SSSL), to determine serviceability of workstations, monitors, printers, servers, and other peripherals.
  • Ensure final technical inspections are completed and proper status is entered in the work order tracking system.
  • Perform monthly UBL inventories and assist with cyclical property inventories.
  • Perform other duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • Must be a US Citizen.
    • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Secret Clearance.
    • Valid driver’s license and ability to obtain U.S. Government Motor Vehicle Operation's License and Host Nation Driver's License.
    • Meets requirements outlined in AR 25-2 for privileged access (IAT-I) to ISs. Certifications: CompTIA Security+ and Microsoft 365 Certified Modern Desktop Administrator or Server+ are required per DoD 8570.1-M.
    • Applicants must be Baseline & Computing Environment certified prior to hire per DoD 8570.1-M.
    • A+ Certification preferred.
  • Experience:
    • At least 3 years of related experience.

Summary: This position is located in Camp Arifjan and Camp Buehring, Kuwait, supporting the Joint Program Executive Office for Chemical and Biological Defense (JPEO-CBD) for Contractor Logistics Support (CLS). The Field Service Representative (FSR) provides operation, maintenance, and supply support for the Joint Portal Shield (JPS) Systems.

Essential Job Functions:

Perform daily operation and maintenance tasks for the JPS system at field sites.

Provide operation, maintenance, and supply support for the JPS System.

Perform maintenance actions including Operator’s, Field Level, and Sustainment Level maintenance to keep the JPS operational.

Operate the JPS in contingency and expanded Threat Condition (THREATCON) Delta roles when notified by the Government, during exercises, VIP visits, or increased threat levels.

Perform system modifications and upgrades, including routine, urgent, and emergency MWOs to replace obsolete parts.

Troubleshoot hardware and software issues in multi-vendor systems.

Install, test, troubleshoot, and repair electronic equipment.

Maintain sufficient stock of LRUs, SRUs, and repair parts for daily and contingency operations.

Perform software upgrades and apply IA security patches.

Maintain supplies, consumables, expendables, and repair parts for all JPS systems.

Interface with installation CBRNE response and Emergency Management teams, maintaining customer relations for effective emergency response.

Required Experience and Education:

High School Degree or GED.

Minimum 5 years’ experience.

Experience with US Military force protection systems and JPS systems preferred.

Experience with chemical/biological detection equipment.

Experience with power generation equipment (5-10 KW preferred).

Experience diagnosing and repairing electronic systems, components, wiring harnesses, LRUs.

Experience using maintenance management software (Maximo preferred).

Knowledge and Skills:

Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).

Travel: Yes, OCONUS

Clearance: Secret Clearance required.

**HOW THE FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN (BFT-A) WILL MAKE AN IMPACT**:

- Provide functional and technical support to the diverse community of Blue Force Tracking Aviation modules to include log book, quality control office, production control office, and flight operations log book, assist in the instruction and daily maintenance of all aircraft and log book records with customers to assure accuracy.
- Provide onsite briefings for all unit personnel, over the shoulder training to BFT-A software users, provide help desk support, technical troubleshooting, and resolve procedural issues.
- Maintain and update an electronic database of common procedural issues and solutions or quick fixes to known issues.
- Capture and file electronic trouble reports and software change requests.
- Assist in implementing new aircraft into the system and assist with aircraft transfers.
- Report data quality issues to unit personnel.
- Support remote deployments.
- Coordinate hardware replacements and repairs.
- Assist in fielding new hardware and new software versions.
- Maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge and skills required to execute all field service representative tasks assigned.

**WHAT YOU WILL NEED TO BE SUCCESSFUL**:

- AA/AS, 5+ years experience. (will consider other combinations of years of experience, education and certifications
- Must have a current and active Secret Clearance.
- Graduate of DOD AVN Maintenance MOS Producing School OR Graduate of FAA Airframe and Power Plant (A&P) school OR Graduate of the APM BFT-AVN Technician Training Course and 2 yrs direct related experience may be substituted for a DOD Aviation Maintenance MOS or FAA A&P license.
