1. Supporting the teachers who are teaching children with language, cognitive, emotional/behavioral, and social disabilities.
2. Assist the teachers in instructing the students within the curriculum areas of Language, Mathematics, Science, Social Studies, and Visual Arts as well as work with the Specialist areas of Music, Drama, P.E, and Computers.
3. Actively involve with the teachers in planning and developing units based on the Ontario curriculum as well as adapt and develop educational materials to meet the unique needs of all students.
4. Devise activities and programs that encourage the growth of a child's strengths as well as support their weaknesses.
5. To assist an individual student or small group of students especially in ESL support.
6. To work with the other staff members to ensure that the whole needs of the child are met.
7. To assist the teacher in developing educational materials to meet individual needs.
8. To work collaboratively to develop programs and activities.
9. To assist the teacher in implementing a high standard of classroom discipline, pupil manners, and behavior both inside and outside the classroom.
10. Keeping accurate track of the students' progress to enable appropriate term report records and ensuring accountability – as appropriate.
11. Assist with maintaining records, observations, student portfolios in accordance with the school's guidelines.
12. Maintaining professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school as well as monthly school meetings, bi-monthly division meetings, committee meetings, and team meetings, and in self-selected professional growth activities.
13. Maintaining high standards of classroom and corridor displays which reflect the work of the students functions (i.e. parent nights).
14. Support other members of the teaching team during short leaves of absence.

1. Participating in extracurricular activities such as after school parental workshops and after school club activities as well as weekly school assemblies and all school functions (i.e. parent nights).

Requirements:

1. Bachelors' degree in English Literature- or Education related field
2. TA experience is a plus

Main duties

1. Prepare the physical environment of the classroom for all lessons
2. Ensure and maintain the implementation of routines and procedures.
3. Present in all classes except Quran , Ruya , IT & PE periods
4. Assist with the display of class or subject materials, including those of students' work
5. Work with individuals and groups of students as arranged by the class/ subject teachers
6. Provide help for below level students during classes (as directed by their teachers)
7. Assist with creating teacher made resources ( just grade 1 & 2 )
8. Assist with creating and managing extra school activities
9. Substitute for the subject teacher in the event of his/ her absence or elsewhere according to HOD or admin plan.
10. Attend all development workshops & admin meetings
11. Ensure that students meet the expectation of the school in term of behavior and discipline. Prepare stuff & apply her class motivational techniques and implement consequences with the class teachers.
12. Track students' attendance according to school regulations
13. Contact parents with the teacher to check , inform and discuss their kids behavioral and absence issues
14. Keep detailed records / anecdotal note.
15. Distribute and collect administration's letters and money
16. Supervise students according to individual duty outlined in duty schedule
17. Cary out such duties as may be assigned by principal , deputies , or HODs ( during substitutions )
