The candidate will be responsible for patients with medical problems generally considered to fall within his/her specialty. The consultant will maintain compliance with the Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations of the hospital, and Ministry of Health standards for the department. He/She will also plan, direct, administer, and supervise activities for Cardiology & Internal Medicine patients. Reports to the Medical Director on matters relating to the operation of the patient care division through the Head of Department.
Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards- Ensure implementation of the Ministry of Health regulations, the hospital Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, and the Department Policy and Guidelines.
- Diagnose and treat patients referred to the department and manage his/her own clinic.
- Provide the highest quality of service to patients within the resources available.
- Investigate, diagnose, and treat patients with conditions appropriate to his/her specialty, determining the need for clinical investigations and physiological testing, and manage the patient's condition with appropriate follow-up.
- Maintain high professional standards of documentation in line with policies, procedures, and internationally accepted standards.
- Undertake interventional procedures as part of treatment or diagnosis, in line with clinical privileges.
- Participate in orientation, education, and support for junior staff, and support continuing medical education with teaching materials.
- Coordinate and exercise professional control over registrars to ensure sound medical and administrative standards.
- Participate in teaching programs, seminars, and promote clinical investigative work.
- Prepare statistical reports timely, adhering to departmental standards.
- Engage in departmental/organizational performance improvement activities.
- Stay updated with current procedures and techniques in his/her specialty.
- Report any incidents inconsistent with clinic operation or standards, or situations risking harm to patients, staff, or visitors.
- Ensure timely, efficient, and effective care for in-patients, outpatients, and emergencies. Conduct regular ward rounds.
- Respond to ward calls regarding patient care conditions.
- Participate in committee membership if assigned.
- Perform other tasks and duties as assigned within his/her knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Accept additional assignments as necessary by the Head of Department.

**Description**: The hospital is looking for Registrar Cardiologists responsible for the day to day medical care of patients in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU). You will supervise the work of a House Officer, with whom they will organize the investigation and management of inpatients under the care of the department, requesting assistance from the Consultant on call when required. You are expected to ensure their patients are safely and efficiently handed over
and to liaise with the other health professionals in the unit to ensure the required level of coordinated care to the patients is achieved and maintained.
- Undertake a daily morning and evening round of all patients in CCU and an additional daily round of the CCU with the supervising Cardiologist;
- Attend Consultant ward rounds and will have a current knowledge of the progress of inpatients under their care;
- Maintain a satisfactory standard of documentation in the files of patients in CCU;
- Maintain a high standard of communication with patients, patients’ families and staff. The Registrar will confer at all times with other clinical team members regarding discharge planning and progress of patients;
- Attend rostered outpatient clinics, one session per week, and endeavor to see outpatients at their scheduled appointment times. Outpatients for pre-assessment in the department or who are to be discharged will be discussed with the Consultant Cardiologist;
- Answer calls from GPs and will make appropriate decisions regarding the disposition of these patients;
- Undertake investigation or treatment of patients in the CCU where appropriate and request assistance from the Cardiologist on call when required;
- Undertake GP ECG reporting and liaise with the GP regarding important abnormalities by telephone if necessary and discuss interpretations of ECGs with the Cardiologist if required.
**Who are you**: You are a licensed doctor to provide specialized and holistic care to patients with a broad spectrum of heart diseases, whether it is an emergency or a long-standing chronic condition.

- Ability to work harmoniously with fellow physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and other hospital personnel;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Close attention to details;
- Compassionate character and gentle personality.
Education & Qualifications:
- MBBS AND Master or equivalent;
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience (including 1 year after Master);
- Willing to relocate to Kuwait.
